Crossfield Redux...

So I have been getting asked by a few people as to how I would have designed the (in)famous Crossfield-class...And I have always stated I would design it around the "Spore Drive". So here it is... I hope it is interesting.

With the lightning effect, I’m getting a sinister vibe like that medical ship in Lower Decks had — the scary one one taking Boimler to the Starfleet “Farm” for treatment.

Or the hauntquarters from the first Ghostbusters cartoon. :rommie:

And I’m getting an old riverboat vibe with that HAL eye spore drive(?) thingy as the paddle wheel. The upper and lower blades kinda look like keels in the three dimensional sea is space. Or maybe smokestacks.

And I like the double saucer.

Really far out ship. :bolian: :bolian: :bolian:

Only it’s Captain should be Christopher Lee. Secretly preparing to conquer all known space!

I like it. Very funky in a good way.
Wouldn't mind seeing a version where the top and bottom "struts" were a bit shorter and each had an oversized, style-appropriate warp nacelle trailing back forever and ever.

Thanks

It's definitely interesting. :rommie:
Aye I aim to please.

It is almost steampunk like, especially with the colouring the way it is.:mallory:
Aye, I can see that.

its like a castle in space :)
In a way, aye.

Thanks! And Lee for the win!

LOL I almost added actual "normal" nacelles, but opted against it. To me, this ship uses the S-drive...for regular warp, she can only do warp 4 at best and I mean best. I envisioned her structural geometry to be this way because of the S-drive.

It does look better without nacelles, IMHO. I like the vertical-ness of your design since Discovery was shown to move vertically whenever it did the spore jump. :techman:

Thanks bro. I didn't know that the ship moved vertically...I just heard it did a barrel roll, and the saucer spun.

Yeah, it barrel rolls and then flies vertically down below the camera frame as it jumps out. Jumping in it appears from above the camera frame and into the middle of the screen.

Edit: BK613 is correct, it does NOT barrel roll prior to jumping (or sinking). It only rotates really fast around its fore and aft axis. (Oh and the saucer ring spins up.) Why it is necessary to do this? Dunno :lol:
