I think my favorite part about Wall-E, among all my other favorite parts in that movie, is that Wall-E is apparently a singular trash reclamation drone, that somehow survived so long beyond the end of human civilization & all the other Wall-Es, that he has in some way developed to a point nearing artificial intelligence, BUT he's still actively following his same exact trash reclamation drone program.

Which means, that it might not be a program anymore. He might have become self aware enough to know he was a drone with a program, & after having considered his solidarity, realized that not only did he have nothing else of value better to do besides continue it, he probably also made the personal choice that it was still the right thing to do.

Basically, without it being spoken of in the movie itself, Wall-E isn't still cleaning up Earth because he's programmed to anymore. He's doing it because he wants to. :)

I always thought they could have easily made Wall-E in a dark dystopian style and it’d basically be the same movie.

I’m three episodes into Cobra Kai and it’s seeming less like a sequel and more like literary criticism of the movie. Showing the real world consequences of the Boomerisms that drove the narrative. Daniel tries to impress his daughter’s Asian American boyfriend by flaunting his Japan fettish. Cobra tries to teach his student his idealized view of manliness and it gets him beaten up. Like they’re deconstructing the conceits of the source material by showing you where it really leads.

I felt the same way early on, but it starts feeling more like a sequel in the latter half of the season, then season 2 kicks it into overdrive. Season 2 and 3 are much more nostagia-driven. I think season 1 is more concerned with re-establishing the characters coming off a 30 year time span.

Like Diane Carey's novelization of the ENT pilot episode?

(although surely not anywhere near as obnoxious)

Is Julie Pierce ever mentioned in Cobra Kai?

I saw that movie once and it was mediocre, but it's undeniably canon. I didn't realize it was Hilary Swank until I looked it up on Wikipedia.

something I failed to pick up on the first time I watched The VVitch but was really telling on re-watching was the way William spends half the film taking out his frustration, and his own stubbornness, by chopping wood, far more than is needed, until he has a huge pile by the side of the house.

    Then at the end
he's killed when that very pile of wood collapses on him. He's literally killed by his own pride.

Not yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was in season 4. But yeah, it's the movie that launched Hilary Swank's career.

I was watching Beavis and Butthead and something occured to me... why do those two have short hair?
    * All the bands they admire are heavy metal bands with long hair.
    * Todd and his gang, who the duo also admire, have long hair as well.
    * They're always trying to headbang, which requires a decent head of hair to do properly.
    * It's not due to work requirements, because Beavis wears a hair net. This is a standard provision for employees with long hair.
    * It seems unlikely that their neglectful moms would bother to make them cut their hair, and it's established that their dads don't even know they exist.
    * They attend a public school, so no hairstyle requirement there, either.

    So... ???

^ Maybe it was just harder to animate regular characters with long hair?

Even after all these years I still prefer Megatron turning into a hand gun instead of a vehicle. Also it played a role in a good comic where a human criminal had some kind of control over him and was using him to rob banks and stuff until Megatron gained his freedom.

Don't see why that would have mattered.
