The Animals That Aren't Dogs or Cats Thread

OK, this isn't a picture or video, but it's still something I think is worth sharing with my fellow animal people.
A wild horse sanctuary I follow on Instagram is trying to raise awareness of the efforts to put an end to the Adoption Incentive Program for the wild mustangs gathered up by the Bureau of Land Management. The program is paying people to adopt the horses, so people are doing it just for the money and after the time they're required to keep them is up, many of them of are being sent off to slaughter. Yeah, that BLM "program" has been going on about 20 years or so IIRC. I was only able to view the link for a moment, because as someone who grew up on a small farm, had my own pony as a wee lad and then graduated to full sized Palominos and Buckskins. SHIT like that fuckin' disgusts me and turns my...and then some.

If someone does shit like that to a horse, dog, cat.. locally and gets reported all Hell comes down. But because it has the imprimatur of the Feds it is for the most/larger part, as far as the BLM is concerned "free rein" and ignored. From what I know it is for the most part the Big ass free grazing ranchers using Federal land for practically nothing $ that want them gone, claiming that they screw up the grasslands for their cattle. Enjoy your next hamburger.
