The least disliked episode 2021 - TOS Season Three

The eponymous "Elaan of Troyius" is simply insufferable.

The Enterprise Incident
Day of the Dove
For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky
The Tholian Web
Whom Gods Destroy
That Which Survives
The Savage Curtain
All Our Yesterdays

Never liked that Kirk didn't offer Deela the solution to their problem.

Argh - that's one of the things that makes Wink of an Eye great. :brickwall:

Anyway, it's now time to eliminate possibly the most overrated episode in Star Trek. Yes, it's time for The Deletion Incident. Ooooof. It always breaks me up when people bag on S3, but cite The Enterprise Incident as some counterexample. Wrong on both counts - S3 is a dark exploration of some very interesting science fiction concepts . . . and The Enterprise Incident is not. I love how quickly Spock puts away his communicator in that one scene. As if the enemy would have let him keep it. And I think the Romulan Commander should have given some serious thought to remaining with the Federation after her Starfleet debriefing, as I doubt the Praetor was too pleased to find out about her sudden personal obsession with a Vulcan male leading to a total shift in the balance of power. Of course, that's another problem with this episode, and perhaps one that indicates that some of the later franchise writers agree with my views: Kirk and Spock's dangerous (and highly contrived) mission accomplished absolutely nothing, as the Romulans had to give Starfleet the cloaking device AGAIN to outfit the Defiant. (And THAT didn't take either.) Another issue: would they seriously keep Scotty in the dark? Sounds like a bad idea for multiple reasons. (Of course Scotty has a couple of awesome moments in the episode anyway, including a great speech from the center seat.)

I will now take this episode on a five-minute journey from the bridge to Deck Two.

Day of the Dove
For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky
The Tholian Web

Whom Gods Destroy
That Which Survives

The Savage Curtain
All Our Yesterdays

Whom Gods Destroy is gone. The shape-shifting that includes the clothes was never convincing.

Day of the Dove
For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky
The Tholian Web

That Which Survives
The Savage Curtain
All Our Yesterdays

@Phaser Two I thought Kirk not offering was character-breaking. He showed more mercy to the Horta that had killed 50+ people.

"Day of the Dove"
A handful of crew are locked up with a handful of Klingons, and the rest of the 400+ members of the crew are "Trapped" and can do nothing? Swords mysteriously appear in people's hands and nobody stops to question it? I guess we're all supposed to put it down to Alien Brain Manipulation of the crew.

But maybe brain manipulation needs to be performed on the audience to make this palatable.

The Savage Curtain, aliens want to learn about the concepts of good and evil and which is stronger ... they don't get it. It's also another fight to the death for Kirk and Spock against long dead characters from the past..

I think what I like about it is that it's a dark, different kind of ending, and thought-provoking. Did the Enterprise really just fly off, and did the Federation quarantine the entire area as Deela predicted? For that matter, did either Kirk or Compton leave Deela or Mira (as the novelization called her) with a going-away present that helped to solve the Scalosians' problem? Or did the Federation synthesize the Scalosian water, outfit a ship or a shuttle with corresponding technology, and come back to offer help? I think it's utterly fascinating, a great capper to one of my top five favorites. Actually, it's pretty much my immutable #3 overall.

Tough choice, but the animal skin bikini has to go.

Anyone noticed that time passes pretty much at the same speed in the slow and rapid universes? That was weird.
