I was getting a little annoyed that Barry was blowing off everybody who was telling him not to erase the forces. You'd think when his wife, and one of his best friends are both telling not do something, he would at least consider not doing it.
At least he didn't go through with it in the end.
I'm glad they brought Alexa back to life, I was hoping we'd see more of her.
It was fun to see Timeless Wells again, and we seemed to get the beginning of the set up for Cisco to leave.

I expected Sister Sledge's "We are Family" to come on sometime during this episode. All the talk about Family, and walls closing in, and all that jazz and I'm just bored. Barry, once again, pushes people too much and has to deal with a pep talk, the Force storyline is not very interesting, and I thought we were done with Kramer. Hopefully with Kramer back this will lead to an Arc to bring back Frost because ever since the Frost episode, this season is losing steam fast. Also, why is Joe resigning? He's the captain of the precinct. He was in a position of power to take it up with the Governor what was going on. While Flash is fighting for good from a meta human standpoint, you could have had Joe fight the good fight through the Law, and even lead towards getting Frost out of Jail. Now what are they going to do with him.

This episode was a two parter (What is the point of two parters now that everything is arc based) but it really didn't need to be. All that stuff about bringing the forces together and they all die (Maybe?) anyway. Next week better be the best this arc has to offer because I feel a bit anti-climatic coming on.

I think the show has gotten better this season. I like the renewed focus on talking villains down, winning their hearts and minds instead of outfighting them. Jesse L. Martin's scenes are always a highlight. Ennis Esmer is terrific as Psych/Bashir. And they chose a fantastic location for the climactic scene, that highway with those beautiful mountains in the background (so much for Central City being in Missouri...).

Still, it's imperfect. Barry is still being an imperious "I know best" jerk, and it seemed abrupt and unmotivated for Joe to resign rather than continue trying to change Kramer's mind or stay in a position of authority where he could keep her in check.

I disagree. For me, just punching or shooting people to solve problems is what's uninteresting. Grounding conflicts and their resolutions in character, emotion, and ideas is what gives them meaning. The best stories are not just about the mechanics of solving problems, they're about exploring who their characters are.

My problem with most of this is there is no genuine emotion to any of these scenes at all. They have no real family connections. Even though they use terms like “Father” for Barry and “Mom” for Iris and their so called “children” as “brother” and “sister”.

Barry and Iris conducted an experiment to recreate the Speed Force. An unexpected side effect was that random people through Central City were possessed by these new “Forces”. I use the term possession because that is really what happened. Last night they talk about the Forces like they are an alternate personality. Similar to Frost. But that makes no sense. Caitlin was born with Frost.

It’s hard to fully explain. Largely because the show has so poorly written these new ideas to understand what they are trying to convey.
My best way to explain - this whole arc is build on a lot of meaningless technobabble to give Barry his powers back. With completely unexpected side effects. The main cast characters except these events way too quickly. Which is strange given the history of Barry being a betrayed by Mentors. Also that Barry, Caitlin, and Cisco all have training in various sciences. But do they actually examine these events with scientific logic? No.

They are quick to give these new Forces cute new superhero or villain names. Now they are also being treated like a quasi family. Just because the characters are quick to apply labels to create artificial relationships.

I still do not understand why these new “Forces” are any different from other Metahumans? The creation of the artificial SpeedForce giving others unexpected powers is little different than the Particle Accelerator explosion creating previous Metas. The motivations of these new Forces are based on the humans past history. So Barry did create new life?? I do not see it that way at all. Even though the characters are trying to tell us that all the time. It does not make any sense. Was Harrison Wells/Thawne the father of all previous meta humans? Are all the Metas Barry has fought his “brothers” and “sisters”? I do not think so.

Yes, and that makes Barry and Iris responsible for what's happened to them. That's what the family metaphor represents. Being responsible for another person is not an artificial thing. It's something to be taken seriously whether it's due to genetics or some other factor.

An analogy doesn't have to be exact to be meaningful. And Caitlin didn't remember Frost being part of her until just a few years ago, so her experience isn't that different from Alexa's.

The Speed Force has its own sentient consciousness, so presumably the other three Forces do as well. They've merged with human hosts to a degree that the human personality and the Force personality are one, at least in the case of Deion and Bashir. Perhaps they're more separate in Alexa/Fuerza's case because Alexa fears that side of her and compartmentalized it rather than embracing the merger like the other two. I figure it's something like Trill symbiosis in Star Trek, the two personas merging into a single one with elements of both.

Also, they're different from metas in that they have effectively limitless, godlike powers. They are sentient forces of nature, which seems like a pretty decent definition of "god" to me.

It gets really boring when everyone just gets talked down. Its obviously a lot cheaper to do that then to have a fight, which is probably the main motivation. Barry doesn't even need to just have big fights, he used to be able to defeat villains in clever ways that weren't just physically attacking but was still more interesting then talking. This season has been a pretty big bore most of the time, when its not actively annoying (the time travel episode with Cisco and Cisco 2 is one of the worst episodes of the entire show in my opinion). I've been trying to stay positive about the show, but it is dying in front of everyone's eyes. It feels like almost all the cast is leaving (including Wells, who is my favorite character), the show is obviously pinching pennies (even by CW standards), the writing is generally awful and all the newer characters are either just bad or obvious replacements for soon to be leaving actors.

honestly, I hope Season 8 is the end. Let Flash reach the same number of seasons as Arrow did (but make Season 8 a full season, maybe) and then just wrap it up. The first few seasons of The Flash will remain the best live action superhero TV ever made(at least in my opinion) but, even though it rebounded for awhile from a terrible season 4, at this point the show is really just a shell of its former self. As bad as Legends is, at least it feels like the people working on it still kind of care (they just aren't very good), while to me everything on/about The Flash is just feeling tired. It really feels like everyone involved is burned out, and add to that what appear to be budget issues and the whole thing feels like it needs to come to a close sooner rather then later.

Seven seasons in and Barry still hasn't learned a thing. Smug, arrogant, always convinced he's right and if something ever does go wrong, well let's go back in time and fix it since that worked so well all the other times.

I sort of see him differently. I see him as someone who carries a lot of responsibility due to his powers and feels guilty like all the time to a point were it's even hurt the character by taking away some of his fun loving nature away on the show. He then often makes stupid mistakes because of that guilt.

They did make a make. Wells was watching a new episode of the West Wing. I am assuming the episodes were he actually did gets his pills mixed up and was acting loopy in the Oval Office but the establishing shot showed it to be sunny thus in the middle of the day when new episodes of course would air in prime time.
