I take a sledgehammer to "THE ULTIMATE COMPUTER".

I really don't like computers. Not joking... they piss me off to no end. And M-5 is a prime example of why we shpuld NOT let machines have so much control.

"A piece of the action". Yeah I know it's a fan favorite because it's the funny gangster episode, but Gangster Planet just didn't do it for me.

"The Changeling" is the weakest of the ones left.

By Any Other Name is returned as faulty merchandise to The Kelvin Empire. Normally I like D.C. Fontana stories/scripts, but this one left a bad taste in my mouth.

I already voted but just wanted to say how much I enjoy the fact that "Return to Tomorrow" (it's a nonsensical title, but how would you have titled it?) is one of the three remaining episodes.

I'm not surprised by the ejection of "By Any Other Name"; both it and "Wolf in the Fold" have the same major construction flaw: First half, one or more young women sadly die; second half, comedy comes to the fore.

You guys are waaaaaaayyyyy off where I would have been. Sorry, but Return to Tomorrow isn't even in my top 50% of TOS episodes.

I'm removing The Trouble with Tribbles, I like it but I like The Doomsday Machine just a bit more because the drama is a bit more appealing than the comedy in tribbles, I have no better reason, sorry. They're both great episodes.

Yes. Sometimes the titles are baffling. Return To Tomorrow??? Tomorrow Is Yesterday??? Today Is The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life??? Give Me Tomorrow And You Can Have Today???

"All Our Yesterdays" should not be grouped with these others because it's a quote from Shakespeare (just like "By Any Other Name," "The Conscience of the King," and, of course, "Spock's Brain").

Maybe it’s just a premonition, but Spock’s Brain might be in the running for Season 3 low dog of this thread topic.

I am very happy with "THE DOOMSDAY MACHINE" being the winner! It has everything. I might call it my favorite of TOS.

It even sets up the possibility of a sequel when Spock questions whether there might be other Doomsday Machines.

I'm also baffled why Return to Tomorrow lasted that long. It's one of the ones I tend to skip over on re-watches of the show.

The soundtrack for Doomsday machine is also pretty amazing. Also, am I the only weirdo who prefers the cement-dipped windsock over the CGI model?

My wife's family remembers this episode as the one with the evil bugle snack in space.

You’re not alone. I prefer the original not-so- special effect Doomsday Machine.

    :guffaw:

Yeah, but that's a quote from Macbeth - just like "Dagger of the Mind," and unlike the Tomorrow Episodes - to this day I have no idea what the title of Return to Tomorrow means in the context of that episode - it's a literary quote drawn from a near-universally-known passage (that was good enough for Faulkner) that also happens to describe perfectly what the inhabitants of Sarpeidon are doing: traveling back to all their yesterdays.

    I do.

When I was little, "The Doomsday Machine" was my absolute favorite episode.
When I got a little older "The Trouble With Tribbles" became my absolute favorite.

So, I'm quite happy with the winner and the runner up.
