What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

^ "Spocks Brain" is certainly no dafter than "Shore Leave", and that seems to be remembered very fondly and positively reviewed.

Considering how often the Federation takes it in the hind end when they negotiate a treaty, maybe Picard should have joined the diplomatic corps.

It tells me they are willing to do so because they can afford to. Even with the treaty of Algeron, there's still a power balance. If the Federation were to go all-out against the Romulans, and allocate a similar share of resources into their forces as the Romulan empire seems to do, the Romulans would quickly be toast.

Well, Voyager had to do something. I mean, what else could it do? Aside from actually develop some of its neglected characters, I mean.

"Fair Haven" did have Janeway's legendary line: "Delete the wife". And "Spirit Folk" had the cow bit. Not saying either of the two justified a full episode, but it would have been nice if those scenes could have been preserved, woven into better episodes. Even "Once Upon a Time" had some bits that were worth saving.

…just waiting for someone to chime in with ‘but I really love those eps’ in 5,4,3,2,1….

I say that because it’s usually me that likes the less popular episodes:lol::lol::lol:

I saw Kate Mulgrew at a convention years ago, and she addressed this episode. "The guy is basically a sophisticated vibrator. Just how hard up is this woman?!?"

Everyone on Voyager is under her command, and (by her own rules) off limits. Not saying that isn't prudent, it most assuredly is. But it means that for Kathryn, a sophisticated vibrator is what's available. A holodeck character might not give you a good relationship, but they can give you a good time!

The problem is, can they really have privacy in a program like this, what if she and the light bulb are... and someone decides to enter the holodeck? Is there a "do not disturb" mode or something?

Course you can, particularly if you're the Captain, there's all sorts or security protocols and locks you could active.

Failing that, stick a big sign outside saying "If the holodeck's rockin', don't come knockin'."

Or have a holo emitter installed in her quarters. And if anyone asks why, hit them with the Janeway Death Glare.
