The new European Super League (ESL) is slated to run in the near future. Six clubs from England and three each from Spain and Italy will initially join the ESL. They are being promised hundreds of millions of dollars for each club per season.


The twelve clubs joining the new league are,

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Totthenham Hotspurs, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan.

The new league is slated to start in the 2023/2024 season.

This whole incident is like an attempted coup d'etat if you ask me. A grab for money and power by the club owners.

So the non-competition is over before it started. It would be funny if it wasn't so utterly pathetic.

A blatant money grab by already obscenely wealthy people who have no genuine interest in football and zero interest in fans. Hopefully this stupidity will stay dead, but I doubt Perez and the Glazer arseholes will be easily dissuaded.

I find it startling that the market studies that these billionaires obviously engaged in beforehand were SO completely wrong about how fans would receive this. I'd like to know what firms conducted said market studies.

I'm not even a football fan but I knew how fans would react to these proposals, and I doubt it's truly dead they'll be some who will still be working on ways to bring it back.

Yet, as was seen at Man U. yesterday, the fans have come together and are pushing back. There's going to be some confused owners out there struggling to comprehend the depth of feeling and deep community ties to clubs. They're messing with regions cultural identities.

Calls for a move towards Germany's fan owned model have never been more timely.

They don't give a damn about protests and community ties. They only care about money. It's certainly all the Glazer scum care about (over a billion pounds bled from United since 2005, and counting) and it's unlikely the rest of them are any different. That's why this...thing will be back in some form, sooner or later.

Agreed, yet people took to the streets about this. It resonates with parts of the population that don't react when political decisions that adversely affect them are made. To be honest, more important things.

This is emotive and I don't think the owners in question realise it's more than just entertain to these fans. There maybe a vague feeling around with some that maybe they've missed something, that there's something they hadn't factored in, but not understanding.

It'll bite them in the ass when they try again.

I reckon you have a rather more charitable view of these owners than I do. Example: Apparently the Glazer scum are planning to turn United into a 10 billion pound "business". That's all they're interested in. The views of fans, legacy or otherwise, are completely irrelevant. They just want their cash machine to get bigger, and they won't mind how they make it happen.

it seems Barcelona, Madrid and Juventus remain committed to the so-called "super league". Given the mind-boggling levels of debt the first two in particular are in, it's no surprise they're wedded to any concept that will rake in as much money as possible.
