Chicago Bears re-sign TrainRex...WTF

Woohoo! My first post on the new board in the new forum turns out to be...a bitch thread.

Is the NFL really THAT short on quality QBs? Sad day for Bears fans, as upper management somehow thought this guy was worth another year despite playing a whopping 32 games in 5 years, with most of those being thoroughly average to mediocre performances.

Yeah, just wait till next year.

I found that signing funny. It seems like everyone in Chicago hates this guy yet the management still decide to sign him for a one year deal. That denial is almost like Nolan relying on Trent Dilfer. Dedication to a guy can only go so far.

but you've still got Griese, right?

I don't think Griese's going to be with the Bears much longer, personally. They seem to have gone into full-on rebuilding mode with this move (or lack of a move) so having Orton as a backup with a new QB is probably what they're thinking.

I guess the NFL IS that short on QBs when people suggest the completely unproven Billy Volek would be the answer for the Bears. :wtf:

Hey, Grossman does make Bears football exciting!

I'm just wondering if he'll be their starter? :)

Volek had a better season as a starter for Tennessee in 2004 than any season Grossman's put together so far.

Forget New England and every other team in the league--the Grossman/Orton duel for the Bears' starting QB job will be utterly engrossing. :guffaw:

Not only do the Bears decided to sign Grossman, they decide to give a one-year deal to keep Orton too! Maybe they just don't want to win this year.

Or maybe they're looking to find the next Cade McNown in the draft. :p

Also, Billy Volek signed a three-year deal to stay with the Chargers.

There isn't a shortage of good QBs in the NFL -- there's just a certain outdated way of evaluating them that means the big school QBs that put up awesome combine numbers will keep getting chances while a lot of other QBs will simply go ignored and not be given a shot.
