What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Just got to roll with it...
Or crawl.

They are on the sea, not in space.
As someone who served in the US Navy, I can assure you that I am not confused about what type of environment we are talking about here. I do appear to have misunderstood your response of
On ships at sea.
as meaning 'that the bridge is manned only at sea and not in port even if the CIC is manned' which I was pointing out isn't the case. Sorry about the miscomms there.

Why wouldn't you want to watch it? It just might be the best Kirk era Trek movie.
And now: very many, if not all, are going to say, "no Jester, you're wrong".
I'm a fan of TMP. I don't think you've seen very many of my non-DSC/PIC posts.

I was speaking in the hypothetical, because I know there are a lot of people who don't like it.

If doing exactly what a movie set out to do was the goal, I will maintain that TMP is one of only two STAR TREK movies to actually achieve their goal. TMP did some things I didn't like, but it also did a lot of things I did like. And I can never not love the beautiful shots of the Enterprise as Scotty gives Kirk the outer tour.

The other movie being, and I am by no means a fan of this one... J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK. In fact, it's actually near bottom of all the franchise movies, to me. But it completely accomplished the goal of getting a much wider audience interest in STAR TREK. So while I do not like it, I will thank and appreciate it for helping to breathe new life into the franchise that made me a scifi fan.

This would be controversial with some. I'd have left almost all of these deleted scenes in the movie.

The movie would be improved by them or at the least not made any worse.

I hadn't seen them before (so, thanks for posting them), but I agree.
Only two I disliked are the Wesley one (pointless and not funny) and the turbolift one (never got the point of the scenes of Shinzon mindraping Deanna, they only detract from the movie, so no sense having that one as well).

It was great seeing Wesley again but without any mention of The Traveler it just leaves a hole in his biography and now that LD is canon that means if Wesley was aboard the Titan we either never saw him in the season finale or he'd transferred off by that point in 2380. :p

The uniforms sucked except for Kirk's Admiral uniform but the movie itself is glorious.
They did look pretty comfy tho. I imagine the ship's thermostat was either turned way down by Wrath of Khan or the crew spent the later movies sweating in those heavy red jackets.
