I am happy to hear this news. Even if it doesn't happen.

Same but I don't know why but I wouldn't mind it being an Original story set during the Robert April era of commanding the enterprise. Pike is getting his own series, Kirk had a series and 6 films, Picard had his series and 4 films, Archer had a series. April is the only enterprise captain not to be fleshed out in live-action.

Dude has one appearance? Does he need fleshed out live action? We know next to nothing about him save for fan conjecture.

Ah, who am I kidding. I've wanted a Pike series since 1995.

That's kinda cool that she was named after a TOS character.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to call Vazquez Rocks an actor rather than a character?

Yes, I know I just became a buzzkill.

I'm trying to think a way to use boulder as a pun for bolder.

I'll believe it when the first spy pics of filming appear online. Maybe Paramount can make some money back on these scripts by releasing a book of them one day.

With the future so uncertain due to covid-19 I'm amazed anyone's making movies for release in theatres. But I guess they could pull a WB and Paramount+ it in the worst case scenario.

That is so funny about her Trek names - both of them!
Is it really the 5th time for a script to be commissioned?
Maybe it doesn't have to be in the Kelvin universe - hopefully.
Abrams will probably find a way to ruin it (in my eyes). At least it isn't Tarantino.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the 4th post-Beyond script. With 2 more unmade attempts before Beyond was made.

    3. Tarantino Trek (this got the media talking)
    4. Noah Hawley (new crew?)

This movie's been in development hell for a long time!

She has some decent credits but she isn't enough to really bring much excitement like a Tarantino or even Hawley movie brings. It feels like she is someone they bring in so the studio can have more control over the final product. Trek needs a game changer or someone who creates instant love as soon as fans see who is going to be working on the next Star Trek movie. Time to call Seth McFarlande. They already messed up not allowing him to do a Trek show. Don't mess up again with him doing a Trek movie.

Trek doesn't need a game changer. Tarantino was not it, nor is McFarlane. Both have their own box like view of Star Trek that won't allow anything to change outside of what they like.

I think the studio is trying to test the waters and not take much risk, which Tarantino would be a huge risk. If this film goes forward and does well maybe Hawley gets a chance. At least from my perspective.
