"Our" Earth in Marvel Comics is Earth 616.

Even if timelines diverge from one another at some point, it doesn't mean they aren't separate parallel universes, only that there is some point at which they cease to appear parallel. Star Trek hasn't fully explored the difference. It's always handled time travel and alternate realities on the shallow end, but it would be interesting if they adopted a "Donnie Darko" tangental universe idea, as opposed to parallel realities caused by some incident.

I thought in Marvel comics continuity, our Earth was on the exact opposite side of the Sun from the Earth that contains all the Marvel heroes; and was overseen/protected by the High Evolutionary, which is why there are no mutants with superpowers or other types of superpowered heroes on this planet.

But Babylon 5 taught us that the 3rd age of mankind doesn't even begin until the 23rd century. Not to be confused with the 5th world, which will come after the fall of the New Gods.
I think too much stuff has happened on counter Earth to confuse it with ours. I know Doctor Doom was trapped on it for a while, and there was an Avengers/Champions cross over there a few years ago.

The "parallel Earths" that our heroes encounter are monocultures that resemble one time period and place in Earth's history, with indications that the entire planet is like that. Our Earth is not a monoculture. But if every Earth must be a "copy" of an older one, then perhaps there were multiple extraterrestrial influences on Earth over the centuries.

Why is our Earth the 616th, but our reality the 1218th?
Well now, someone having unearthed Saurons' rings would certainly go a long ways towards explaining the effed-up politics in the world the last 20 or so years, now wouldn't it?

Actually I haven't seen that to be the case.
The Earth in "Miri" seemed a complete duplicate of old 20th century Earth. The difference was a attempt to extend the lifespan of humanity which led to the situation we saw 300 years later.
The Earth in "Bread and Circuses" also appeared to be a completely diverse Earth where somehow Rome at its height had conquered the entire world and maintained its power. (Although why everyone who lived on it wasn't speaking Italian was a bit off
)The parallel Earth in "Omega Glory" also appeared at one time to be a complete parallel world with the U.S. and China; which fought a global war that as a result released a biological weapon that ultimately led to successive generations living for centuries.
None of the world's above would be considered a monoculture.
Good summary. Then there was one monoculture (miramanee) and two cultural contaminations (nazis and gangsters) but a narrative to connect the others would be nice.
