Webz is full of rumours, some say that Lucas would be interested to redo episodes 7, 8 and 9.

I don't know if there's any truth in this rumour but would you like if George would come back and remake these films? It could be interesting to see what he originally had in mind after 'Return of the Jedi'. Also, I didn't like the latest films so why not? It would make sense for the creator of the entire franchise to finish the story the way he wants.

Although.... it might be too late for Lucas to return unless he starts to recast the main characters. Mark and Harrison aren't getting any younger and sadly Carrie is no longer with us.

George might have missed a huge opportunity to make these films.... he may regret it someday?

The :censored: he had to put up with for the PT? I doubt those regrets will hold much weight. Fans treated him horribly and the man already struggled with clinical depression and anxiety. Why would he want to go back and face that kind of abuse?

I would put no stock in the rumors. I can reimagine the ST multiple times and find that just as satisfying.

There's no truth to the rumor.

And no, I wouldn't like to see George do a redo of the ST. I'm ready for new stories in the GFFA. If George wants to tell a new story? Cool. But its time to move on from the Skywalker Saga.

No. If there was any chance that he was going to do his version of the sequels, he would have already done them.
At this point the best thing for the franchise to do would be to just move on to whatever is next.

There isn't.

No
It's a stupid idea.

He had plenty of opportunity to tell that story, he sold the franchise of his own free will instead. The movies are done, they're out there, time to move on.

Honestly, I truly wish he had done the sequels instead of the PT like he did.

Indeed, yes. No one forced him to sell to Disney. He could have easily sat on LFL and let it go as it had been doing. Him coming back to Star Wars would not be healthy for him, in my opinion, and the fans would treat him just as bad as Disney. What is in it for him to return?

I would like to see Star Wars put on the shelf for a few years. sci fi franchises are like farmland.. it doesnt hurt to let them lie fallow for awhile. But Disney will squeeze every penny out of what they paid well for until everyone is completely sick of it but refuses to admit they are sick of because by then being sick of it will imply something terrible about you.

No one is remaking 7-9. It's a silly rumor.

I'm sick of the Mandalorian. What is so terrible about me now?

Were there ever any ideas or outlines on what he thought the 3rd trilogy might be, back when the OT was coming out?

I know the concept of 3 trilogies was out there, even back then.

He had a basic idea. Luke's sister would be kind of the Macguffin for Luke to setting how to find. I would have to revisit the Making of Return of the Jedi to see if it is in there or another book. But, that got discarded in favor of a brief wrap up.

I sometimes get the feeling not liking TLJ lumps me into every Toxic Male category, from the way some people treat the movie, in some people's eyes. I just think it's a lousy franchise breaking grenade thrown into the mix.
Seriously? I'm considered toxic for daring to like it depending on where I post...:wtf:

*sighs* stay consistent, sport's fans.

I'm sure whatever I remember reading was in Starlog in the early 80's. All I really remember is the concept of 9 movies.

Lucas had a wide variety of ideas going back as far as "The Star Wars" (the original title). I think the Secret History of Star Wars might go in to more detail. I know the Making of Star Wars has copies of George's notes. But I would have to reread it.
I love Phantom Menace. I know how cold the wind blows. :D
Try liking Attack of the Clones...that's rough.

I don’t care what anyone thinks about my opinions of any movie. I will admit there was a time I cared what others thought but at the end of the day we are all entitled to our opinions. There’s plenty of reasons not to like TLJ or any movie. I may not agree with them but I do my best to accept them. It’s when people start utilizing YouTube opinion videos as being factual that I start to wonder. But that doesn’t happen too much here these days. At least, not that I see.

I know a lot of people would probably disagree, but the 7,8, and 9 that needed to be made were the 'original' sequels- the Tim Zahn trilogy. Excellent characterizations, storylines, and plot. Every problem Disney had with the ST was ALREADY SOLVED if they'd just been smart enough to not try re-inventing the wheel. The only catch here would have been adapting it to the older actors, but there was an opportunity to 'pass the torch' like they tried and failed with boring/undeveloped/underused/MarySue ST characters.

Zahn's trilogy may be made in an alternate way via the various live action series coming out in the timeframe of The Mandalorian.
