Launchpad's "solution" for helping both Scrooge's family and Darkwing was the perfect closing punchline! I actually "barked" several guffaws!
As a non-Darkwing Duck fan, that double episode was a lot of fun, packed with lots of characters from both worlds, some great parallel universe stuff (I loved the nod to the original DuckTales series). and helped move the larger story arcs forward with FOWL. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Marc Evan Jackson is perfect casting as Bradford Buzzard. I look forward to more of his now open villainy. The only downside of the episode was the lack of Webby. But I loved Dewey's "Let me be your Webby!" to Gosalyn, so that almost makes up for her absence.
Well we're getting a Darkwing Duck reboot........but it's not connected to the current Ducktales version that we recently got acquainted to. The show will be produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. He's also working on an animated TMNT movie too. https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/darkwing-duck-reboot-disney-plus-1234830283/ Jim Cummings apparently has some involvement https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1327380454484320256
That's weird at first blush, but kind of appropriate, since it turns out that the original DWD wasn't meant to be in the same reality as DuckTales despite featuring Launchpad and GizmoDuck.
Season 3 will be the last for this incarnation of Duck Tales, apparently. https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1334018238771056642
It's official https://deadline.com/2020/12/ducktales-canceled-after-three-seasons-disney-xd-1234636855/ https://twitter.com/theironwrist/status/1334295259933626369
Disney XD will air the finale for 24 hours straight after it's premiered https://d23.com/just-announced-ducktales-series-finale/
Pure conspiracy mode: The fact that the new episode of DuckTales features Tron-esque music in the style of Daft Punk just one day after the duo announced their breakup is NOT a coincidence, but in fact demonstrates their mega-secret plans to create an entire soundscape for both DuckTales AND all future Tron related media! It makes perfect sense! But on a more serious note, this episode was a lot of fun. I love a good virtual reality romp especially one that features different types of Gizmoducks! Even better with M'Ma Cabrera in the mix! My memory must be failing me because I thought Fenton and Gandra left things on a sour note, so when I saw him interacting with her in the GizmoCloud, I immediately assumed a Leah Brahms situation. Thankfully I was wrong about that and it was in fact a secret hideaway for the two of them, but that means my memory is even worse than I thought. Clearly that means I need to go back and rewatch all of the episodes again. Rats! Unsurprisingly, even though things ended well in the fight against Mark Beaks (I'm so relieved everyone sees him as a joke now), Bradford was well aware of what Gandra was up to and has now locked her up. Question now is how long before Fenton figures out what's going on and goes to rescue her (assuming he doesn't believe that she deceived him).
The show will live on (briefly) as a podcast parody called This Duckburg Life. Unfortunately, we won’t get much—just seven episodes—but after the still-heartbreaking announcement that season three would be the show’s last, I will take any additional minute I can get of DuckTales in any format. io9 is particularly delighted to reveal that Disney has announced This Duckburg Life, a parody of the public radio show This American Life. Hosted by Huey Duck (Danny Pudi), the podcast series will “highlight riveting stories from Duckburg” that are almost certainly going to be vastly comprised of DuckTales’ main cast. We also have the very first clip! As you can hear, Beck Bennett is also returning as Launchpad McQuack, and the show’s stars, including David Tennant (Scrooge McDuck), Ben Schwartz (Dewey), Bobby Moynihan (Louie), Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley), Jim Rash (Gyro Gearloose), Josh Brener (Mark Beaks), Margo Martindale (Ma Beagle), and Tony Anselmo (Donald Duck) will be making audio appearances. I'll take whatever I can get! Based on the clip, it already sounds like a lot of fun!
