The Defiant is one of my favorite ships, so I can't resist to make my own version. She always had a sports car vibe to me. So I wanted to keep that but give her more of a 70's italian sportscar vibe. Lots of stuff still missing

Interesting shape, I like it though it's a bit on the bulbous side for a warship.

I think that elongating the shape a bit might help with that "bulbous" feeling the ship has right now. I'm feeling the same way as Rekkert: I like the ship, but it's a bit... chubby right now. Digging the lines of the aft though!

Dude, that‘s super sleek and sexy! I love how you streamlined the top design. Looks totally aerodynamic now. I also kind of dig the lack of a ton of surface detail, because that‘s part of the whole 70s aesthetic. But I‘m curious where you are going with this. :bolian:

This is a really nice first pass, I'm eager to see where this goes. I do agree with Rekkert and Borgman that the ship does look a little on the "chonky" side, especially in the side profile, but the overall direction you're taking this is great.

I dunno, I think she's got a fine side profile. Reminds me of organic anime designs mashed with an English Electric Lightning :D

Interesting. It looks more organic...more for underwater than for space.

Cool design, it does indeed look a little like Cousteau's diving saucer mini submarine. :mallory:
Also.. the 70's? Hmm.. more angles and a ridiculous spoiler like the Lamborghini Countach? :D

Cool! I like the smoothness you bring to the design.

    Ahoi...

Thanks for the comments. Seems like a good example of "tunnel vision", and I am not sure how I could not see it, but yes. Ship looked a "little" bit chonky.

I was more thinking of Lancia Stratos, Alfa Romeo Spider and the 70s Countach...before they kitbashed that thing into its own caricature.

Still lot to do, but I think at least the proportions are much better now.

I like the first version better, although the sensor arrayed drooped down too much. I think you could have fixed that by dropping it back under the saucer and making the front edge thin.

The flat version isn't bad by any means, but not only is the vertical dimensionality interesting, but the extra space will be a big help if you ever try to figure out how stuff fits inside of it.

I'm still at it. Made a test render. When it comes to modeling, I would say I'm half way through. When it comes to textures and mats there is still much room for improvement...

Oh and sorry for the camera movement...thats my first try on doing such stuff. It was really just to look how it looks moving.

I wish the canon Defiant had flowed this well.

When landet the shuttle bay can be used as some sort of elevator to get personell and supplies off and on board.

Please be careful and don't touch the hull when you parked the ship in the sun all day...

Made some minor changes and started to fiddle around with decals. Also I removed, whatever the orange glowing part behind the bridge is (I could not find out for sure), from directly above the warp core (what seems like an odd design choice for a ship that is expected to get shot at, like a lot...) to the sides. The whole engineering section is now in some kind of case that not only protects it but also can be ejected from the ship.

^ Still super slick and pretty. Kind of like a stealth version of the original Defiant. It didn't dawn on me before, but it also kind of looks like the 32nd century version of the ship we would expect to see in Discovery.
