Cool Trekkish sweaters

One of the eras of TOS I like, uniform-wise, is the first two pilots. It's hard to get good stuff for them, though.

Macy's has got these on clearance, and I bought several. They're a little darker than they look in these pictures, though they're bright in the sun, but they'd be excellent for some budget Trek cosplay. Just stick some patches and rank rings on.

Anyway, thought you'd dig. :) https://www.macys.com/shop/product/inc-mens-dominic-velvet-turtleneck-sweater-created-for-macys?ID=11356004

Yeah, I was disappointed too. Still...

(also, Pike era didn't have red, right? They had the beige instead?)

I never noticed the difference either back in the day, nor do I recall any mention of it in any behinds the scenes material.

Bazed on what happened with the green/gold command color, I wonder if the two colors were looked different in person, but the lighting and film stock evened them out.

I remember having a couple of sweatshirts in the 70s at school! One was golden and the other type was brown! They both had a coloured ring around the collar as well! They reminded me of the Star Trek uniforms and that's why I pestered my parents to get them for me to wear! but as I recall they didn't wash well and shrank! (Sounds familar I think?) :nyah:

When I was at teachers college (1977-79), the hot young drama lecturer had a red velour sweater that I really coveted. Then I saw velour sweaters in a shop near the college! (They probably had suitable blue and mustard/green ones, too.) Sadly, the moths attacked it. On one sleeve and on the front.

In December 1979, I became a Trek fan, due to "The Motion Picture". In mid 1980, I found the local Trek groups. I suddenly realised that if I put an insignia and braid over the moth holes on my sweater, and added a black collar, I would have my own Starfleet uniform top to wear to the costume day at our episode screening marathon.

So classy! And comfy! So, which shirt is "salmon"? I thought "salmon" meant pink? I see five identical gold shirts and five identical blue shirts.
