I think season 2's my favorite. It had Minefield about Lt. Reed facing his mortality while Archer was trying to save his life. It had The Communicator, where people had to do a covert mission. In The Crossing, people's bodies were taken over, and there was a brief period when this was a mystery. In Horizon, Mayweather dealt with his father's death and tried to come to terms with his own family. Cogenitor dealt with the rights of oppressed people. First Flight had guest actors doing a great job as pilots. And Bounty had Archer deal with being kidnapped, and debate with a Tellarite.

It has to be season 3, I enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 mostly but season 3 made me look forward to next week's episode every time, sure not every episode was brilliant (the eggs episode) but it was a really exciting season. 4 was good too, but it includes that last episode!

Season 4 (minus the finale which was unwatchable) was the best season for me. The 2-3 episode arc format was excellent and the storylines were really good. I remember reading they brought in some of the Star Trek novel authors to write scripts for the season which really seemed to help. It was kind of sad the show got cancelled right when it seemed to be finding its footing.

4 hands down. I get 3 being a legit candidate (and it was great) but 4 had the better focus on a subject that I cared more about: the formation of the Federation.

I loved 3 though so I won't really "die on the hill" here for 4.

If you voted 1 or 2, pick your weapon and time to meet on the battlefield (jk haha)

I agree on S1 and S2, the only episode I liked was the Borg one. All the rest were forgettable.

Easily 3 which is one of my favorite Star Trek seasons ever. Legit might be third behind the first two years of TOS.

The first two are not good. 4 has some good stuff but then a lot of complete fanfic type stuff that serves no purpose.

I like your reasoning but that very reasoning you use is why I like 4 more than 3: the purpose of everything.

3 has more filler and fluff than 4 by far.. Hell, the entire Xindi arc is a bit of a side mission to get to the formation of the Federation itself and the interstellar politics that go along with that. At most, 3 helped remove the TCW aspect (which could have been done in far fewer episodes) BUT I am not demeaning 3 in any way. Real world, they NEEDED to up the action and stakes by a lot to get more people watching for sure.

Also, very little in 4 has no purpose. Even side missions like Orion carried huge revelations that had big implications for stories in the Alpha Quadrant moving forward (sadly never to be).

If anyone wants to hate 4 because of TATV, I have no reply to that. That - I agree- was indefensible.

1 had a lot of potential and I wish it had more grit and stronger stories
2 has my favourite episodes in it
3 has a great arc but I can't stand the sidetrips (or at least I couldn't when I watched it way back when).
4 is pretty solid but I can't stand the first two or last episode, I'm not crazy on the lengths of the arcs but it looked like everyone was having a good time and I really hope they were and went out happy.
