STC fools Slate.com

Unfortunately they took the picture out. Far as I'm concerned STC is the fifth season of TOS (incorporating TAS as the fourth), so let's make it official CBS-Paramount.

I felt they had a soft spot for STC though. Certainly enough to make them a CBS all access affilliate. I don't think they did that with any other production. They still are, even with the fall of Vic Mignogna

I tried rewatching it recently, and I just couldn’t get through it. STC is so inextricably linked with Vic that I can’t let his baggage go and enjoy the show on its own.

What? Just because CBS didn't sue them after the CBS Star Trek Fan Film guidelines were released, and they put out more episodes that were in 'violation' of said Guidelines?

STC wasn't the only group breaking the Guidelines that CBS didn't go after. You have to remember that the Guidelines, DON'T say "Hey, if you break these WE WILL SUE YOU!" -- they are just Guidelines.

In the same vein the Guidelines do not 100% ensure CBS wouldn't still decide to sue your group. They are not an implied release or contract of any kind. CBS always reserves the right to take whatever action they deem appropriate if you are not a licensee and produce a Star trek fan film. A group could follow the Guidelines to the letter and CBS could still sue, or take whatever legal or civil action CBS deems appropriate. The Guidelines would offer such a group ZERO legal protection of any kind, as again, they are not any sort of implied contract or other legal agreement.
 
If CBS had had problems with STC I doubt they would have had two of them present at the Discovery premier

That's just marketing saying, "Let's invite some high profile fans to show the fanbase that we love them."
