Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

First, I want to note, as an addendum to my last post, that, for whatever reason, the stand for the "Cage" Enterprise doesn't fit onto the saucer as snugly as the stands for the regular Connie Enterprise and Defiant's stands do. Not sure why. The saucer seems just as think.

I had a little bit of a poignant moment yesterday. I reached out to my local store and found they had the last three models from the numbered set in. I wasn't sure how popular they'd be, so I rushed over as soon as I was done work (I work from home and, fortunately, I'm much closer to the store, now that I've moved) did a curbside pickup (you know why) and bought them all.

It's a little bittersweet, knowing this is the end of the set. Obviously, I'll still be buying a few specials (like the Reliant concept) and some back orders, like the Tamarian ship, but for the most part, my collecting days are almost over.:weep:

Anyway, starting with the first, it turns out the Husnock ship looks rather familiar, in fact I've already bought it in the past couple of months, twice. The filming model was later recycled as the Bajoran freighter and the smuggler's ship, among others. (I stated in an earlier post that this was not the case. Turns out I was wrong). It was a simple looking ship, not as detailed as enemy ships that would come later, like the Jem'Hadar ships, but not bad.

The Vidiian ship surprised me when it was announced. I didn't realize there were actually two Vidiian ships (not counting the recycle of the Merchantman from their first appearance). I guess it's been so long since I saw the episodes, I forgot. I like color and detailing on this one. I'm a bit embarrassed to say this, though, but from a couple of angle (like straight on), it kind of reminds me of the Sea Duck from "Tale Spin"!

And finally the last one. A proper Borg cube in regular size. This one, more than any other ship in the set, reminds me of its "Micro Machine" counterpart. I kind of wish they'd based if off the "Best of Both Worlds" cube, instead of "First Contact", as I think the former looks a bit better, but this one has some nice touches, like the hint of green. You can also see the hatch for the sphere if you look hard enough. A fine ship to complete the set with.

Just wanted to let you know about a small change in our booklet sizes.
We have reduced the size of the magazine for a couple of reasons, the environmental impact - smaller size requires less print/paper etc and the increasing costs would have impacted the cost of our products.
The new size booklet (...) will be the standard size moving forward.

They're making most of their plastic models at a larger size now, but the paper booklets have to be made smaller because of their "environmental impact"? They've increased the prices for their products several times, but it's not enough to keep the regular magazine size?

I'm dissatisfied with the change. The orthographic views in the magazines are almost as important as the models to me, and I want to be able to see them without a magnifying glass.

Hello all, I am new to this forum (just registered) and have only recently begun collecting some of the Eaglemoss Star Trek ships. I have been a long-time Star Trek fan, starting with TNG on network TV back in the 1990s.

Anyway, my question is about repairing models. There have been many questions and answers about glue, but I actually need advice on the opposite: How do I separate parts that have been glued with less than satisfactory precision? For example, the saucer of my Enterprise-A is probably a few degrees off the horizontal. So, I would like to carefully take the saucer section off and re-glue it.

Also, has anyone made fixes to bent plastic? My solar sailer (yes, Eaglemoss, not sailor!) looks very asymmetric due to some plastic parts being bent in relation to the main sail. I assume a hot air gun might do the trick?

(Sorry if any of this has in fact been asked before.)

Be REAL careful with a hot air gun. Yes, it works, but it can also get the surrounding plastic so absurdly soft that it could permanently deform. So be vigilant during use.

As far as separating parts, the glue is so slight that most of the pieces want to separate by themselves out of the box. I would delicately wiggle the parts in question. If they use a superglue/Cyanoacrylates-like substance, there is acetone (nail polish remover), which is said to dissolve it (theoretically). I’ve never used it, so I have no idea if it works or not. You also possibly run the risk of destroying the paint if you use it, so be careful with that one as well.

Thank you very much for your answer, which confirms what I suspected. I will give it a _very_ careful try!

Having gotten rather irritated at the European shop not being restocked for the XL Enterprise B and E and the concept Reliant, I decided to use a service from An Post called Address Pal to order all three from the US shop.

I'll let you all know when they arrive in how many weeks or months!

All the artwork I've seen of the Emmett Till looks so similar to the Chimera-class available as part of the STO collection I wonder if it would be worth a separate model.

Other than the ships both having four nacelles, they look completely different.

Emmett Till looks like the ship from Picard, Rio's old ship from the top down view looks very similar.

While they’re not exactly the same, I can see where whoever made that silhouette clearly took inspiration from the Emmett Till.

Hi Peeps!

Received the SS Conegosta yesterday - from EM Australia.

One of the ‘engine’ cones came off in transit, so gonna superglue it tonight. Also, one of the nacelles was wonkily attached, so I wiggled it off the strut, and will re-glue that correctly also.

I have noticed that one of the nacelles caps is also misaligned as the cap spike / spire points outwards a little to the left, so may have to delicately realign that also.

It’s a nice starship, and one of Eaves’ better designs IMO - considering what he attempted to do with it.

Overall though, I’m pleased with it! :)
