I wasn't counting continuous miniseries, just series with intermittent releases over many years.

This is a very interesting topic!

Star Trek Online has a new title image for each expansion/season.

I wonder, have the words "Star Trek" or "star trek" ever appeared in written form in-universe?

Yeah, I put it together when @David cgc replied. And yeah, I agree with him-- it's easy to be consistent when all the installments come out in three months! Most long-running concepts seem to change at some point.

    True enough
But this disturbs me less than the change of format from mmpb to tpb, my shelves were a mess and I ended up separating them
And now the hardcovers are back...

Well, Zephram Cochrane in First Contact says something like "You people are all astronauts on some kind of star trek," so if that line is in the novelization they have.

Markonian said "in written form in-universe." A spoken line of dialogue that's written down in a book in our universe is still spoken in the story's universe.

So the answer to the question is no -- it has, thankfully, never appeared in written form in-universe. Although a number of Trek episode titles did appear written down on Incredible Tales covers in "Far Beyond the Stars," if a hallucinatory vision can be considered "in-universe." https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Incredible_Tales_of_Scientific_Wonder#Issues

They did the same thing with Captain Georgiou's bookshelf in her ready room on the Shenzhou.

Thanks team! I just wrote up the post, but it's queued for early January. I was able to identify a lot of them-- there's some neat stuff. (Lots of Futura!)

Well, that makes sense. Star Trek takes place in the futura.

    .......I'll show myself out.

I mean, to be honest, I feel like that was probably their thought process! The "logo" on the original Alan Dean Foster as pointed out by @Ghost of Christmas Present is a form of Futura, as was the typeface used on Pocket's original run of original series novels, from The Entropy Effect all the way up to In the Name of Honor!

I remember you claiming credit for ending the numbering. I hadn't realized you killed off two traditions going back to 1981!

Interesting that the rest of the text on the TMP pass looks to be the same font they used for the credits on TWOK. And “guest” on the TNG pass looks like the LCARS font.

Interesting thread here, and ideal follow-up to Typeset In The Future, which I read over the Christmas break... :bolian:
