WandaVision anticipation thread

The reviews say that if you're not familiar with the sitcoms, you will not get the same level of enjoyment from this show. Very weird creative choice given that the MCU fanbase skews young...
That had crossed my mind after reading Kirk's comments. I'm getting pretty close to a nasty milestone (50, shhh) and becoming more and more aware of not always having the same frame of reference as younger people. I'm still waiting for the inevitable show that makes pop culture references I don't get because they were *after* my time. I'm definitely getting out of touch musically.

Around the time I turned 50 in August, the store hired a new counterperson who had just turned 21. In talking with her, I found out that I went to high school with her parents and she went to high school with my niece and knew her.
That, and my friend, whom I've known for 25 years, her daughter just gave birth, and now she's a grandmother.
That makes me feel old.

You know what was my "I am too young for this" moment? Austin Powers. I got all the comedy, but didn't get most of the parody aspects because I never watched the old Bond Movies!

Sharing opinions is fine, but when you know your opinions are just going to start a fight, it's best to just keep it to yourself, or at least try to find a way to word that isn't going to just piss people off.
I'm sorry, but you have posted here enough, and gotten enough bad reactions from your posts to know when you are going to start a fight, and yet you seem to make absolutely no effort to try to prevent a fight from happening.
If you want to say you don't like something that is fine, but the problem is, whether you intend it to or not, the way you go about it tends to be very insulting towards the people involved and the people who like it. There ways to say you don't like something without doing that, so maybe you should try taking a good look at what you are about post, and consider how other people might react to it. Try taking a look at it from the perspective of the people you are talking about, or people who like them and might get defensive about them. If you think it might piss someone off, and you don't want to do that, then maybe try and find a different way to say it.

People start fights with me because I'm not going to pretend to like something that I don't. I don't go after people, I state my opinions. If that pisses people off, they're free to skip past my posts or ignore me. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not the problem 99% of the time. I don't lose my mind when people don't like stuff that I enjoy, but some people can't deal with other opinions, it doesn't matter how I say it, some people take anyone not loving something they like personally.

The only way to prevent a fight would be to either post nothing, or mindlessly praise whatever the majority likes, and I won't be doing either of those options.

The concept of civil discourse escapes you yet again.

I'm usually civil, its other people that start fights. I don't go after posters or their opinions, I just post mine and don't sugar coat it. I'm not going to tone down my opinion, that would be a lie. If I think something is shit I'll say it, I'm not going to mince words. Anyone who takes that personally has only themselves to blame.

You do you, boss.

I'm definitely getting out of touch musically.

If you don't know much about modern pop, that doesn't make you out of touch musically. It means you are tasteful. I haven't paid attention to modern pop for 20+ years and my taste is impeccable :D

Mine was "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert". When my older siblings and I watched it, I was too young to really understand what was so bizarre about dressing up in the other genders clothes.

Marvel did a live stream zoom session with the core cast this afternoon. I only happened upon it halfway through when I visited YouTube for a different reason. What I watch was fun and I'm sure the first half was, too. Some surprise guests and a trailer (of mostly old footage) at the end.

Damn, I forgot all about that.

Once again, and I really am trying to help you here, it's not your opinion that people have a problem with, it's the way you say it. You might not realize, but you tend to say it in the rudest, most obnoxious, and disrespectful way possible, and that is what sets people off.
Like I said before, there are ways to say you don't like something without being obnoxious about it, and also not lying.

I don’t follow new popular music but I follow lots of new indie stuff. Most of the popular culture references I get are from the 90s. So will be interesting to see how much of this I get.

I've watched a lot of the old sitcoms they're referencing in this, so I'm probably going to get a big kick out of it.
