Nah. Starships don't need duty shifts. They only work when the plot demands it

And how many times in Discovery have we seen these other shifts in the bridge?Keep in mind there should be 3 or 4 different bridge crews so they have different people covering each duty shift.
Well... They still have to exist... After all, the people we see still have to eat and sleep...And how many times in Discovery have we seen these other shifts in the bridge?
Not in Star Trek. No bathrooms either.Well... They still have to exist... After all, the people we see still have to eat and sleep...
TNG liked to switch out the bridge crew but only for landing parties. For some reason taking half of the alpha shift bridge crew for an away team was a thing .Not in Star Trek. No bathrooms either.
Except we see both other shifts and bathrooms in the other series...Not in Star Trek. No bathrooms either.
It's a joke...I do that.Except we see both other shifts and bathrooms in the other series...
People want to be angry. It's easier.People can find anything to complain about. Literally anything.
It's a skill. Make no mistake.
It's not about being angry. It's more aboutPeople want to be angry. It's easier.
She would have been better off. It's not like the character is going to get a lot of screen time or linesI do enjoy however, the early predictions that Ina was only there to be red shirted. People were very certain of that.
Until last Thursday.
What does being critical get me? So far what is presented is a lot anger, misery and lack of enjoyment in a show that supposedly is about being entertaining. So I must be doing something wrong if my goal is to enjoy this show rather than find mistakes in it at every turn in the name of being critical. It's not about being angry. It's more aboutlaughingcriticizing at those who lack skills (or just don't want) to be critical.
What's it like having your infallible ability to predict the future then? Do tell us!I do enjoy however, the early predictions that Ina was only there to be red shirted. People were very certain of that.
You can enjoy the show AND be critical. In fact I would say that should be a requirement for any serious fan.So I must be doing something wrong if my goal is to enjoy this show rather than find mistakes in it at every turn in the name of being critical.
It's fine if you are not critical and just enjoying yourself.. in a vacuum. As soon as you go to a public forum, be prepared to deal with people that have different opinion than yours. What does being critical get me? Why should a fan be serious? You can enjoy the show AND be critical. In fact I would say that should be a requirement for any serious fan.
-If you are a fanboy (giving a show a 10 before it starts... ahem... you know who you are)
OR
-If you are a hater (giving a show a 1 before it starts, there are a few here)
Well, you are not a serious fan in either of those cases. There, I said it. Fanboys are not serious fans.

I mean, that's a given. I just am wondering for people who focus on the negatives what do they get out of it? Because, again, I can only go by what I read, watching Discovery sounds like the worst experience for many that I see post here and elsewhere. You would think that Kurtzman had dragged the original film of TOS and TNG and burned it for the reaction. It's fine if you are not critical and just enjoying yourself.. in a vacuum.
