Yup, the Discovery Writers really need someone both versed in canon and critical thinking on their team who can over ride them when they start just throwing stuff out that makes no sense within the larger setting that is Star Trek.
I completely understand that there's a balance to be struck between moving the story along and having the technological aspect be 'believable' - clearly Osyraa needed to take control of the Discovery and the story had to be written to make this happen.

Ship-takeovers have always been pretty ropey affairs in Star Trek, but you'd have thought that in a thousand years there'd have been some improvements in this area. Beaming through shields, no intruder alert, the nifty programable matter controls responding to the touch of enemy combatants.

It sure seems like everyone forgot that SB-19 data Discovery got some episodes back. Realistically Osyraa should grab that too along with the spore drive.

At this point or any points in the story for that matter, believability can be satisfied with a line of technobabble.

Just say: That the quantum thingy's balance has been disrupted by the flux of x-particles and that's why Osyra's fleet dissolved into thin air... (in a matter of speaking because there's no air in space)

Zora being sentient has disadvantages. Osyraa's pheromones gave Zora a headache, causing massive systems malfunctions when Osyraa arrived.

Cool. Can they also write in a TV show production timeline and involve drama to entertain the audience?

In 2020 I can put a screenlock on my phone that stops it being used by a thief and will even take the authorities a bit of time to crack.

How on Earth (or Vulcan or wherever) can a boarding party take control of AND operate a Starfleet ship in 2257 let alone 3100 without access codes, clearances etc?

These idiots don't even change the codes when one of the higher-ups is captured! It's like they're asking for trouble.

The bureaucratic mentality isn't the only constant in the universe -- hackers endure too!

Because every federation starship has a 5 digit code that can take over the entire ship so all Ossyra needs is the cheat book

Have you seen Starfleet security?

Have you seen Starfleet security?
iu

Well they were the inspiration for the 32nd century starfleet uniform

Looks like we haven't seen the same episode because as I recall Voyager DEFEATED Braxton's timeship and that idiot neglected to put a coded lock on its functions which is why the 20th-century guy was able to steal it. Braxton was a poor excuse for a time cop and useless too. With all his knowledge he couldn't do better than being a vagrant!!! What an idiot!
Apparently we did watch different things given I watched that bit on Amazon while typing up my reply to you.

It's a streaming show, they don't need to write the episodes on a TV show production timeline.

Su’Kal made no sense
Seemed pretty straight forward to me.
Way too much content that they tried to compress and make sense of in 45mins.

  • Osyraa can track Discovery? (Do we have a leak at Federation?)
Probably. It's a logical conclusion.
Osyraa can just transport through shields? (That used to be only possible if the ship has far inferior tech)
Did it? Someone up thread had some examples. Were they a case "inferior tech"?
Osyraa knew exactly where to beam into and how to hit it? (Again leak at Federation?)The cause of the burn?
Probably. This is a problem why?
And don't get me started on the cause of the burn. The child has magic powers? How convenient? Why is only “active” dylithium affected? What is the difference between active/inactive dylithium anyway?
If we started eliminating characters with "magic powers" and convenient plot elements, Star Trek would become pretty sparse.

While Su'Kal is child like he's not a child. He's older than everyone else in the episode.

Active dilithium would be dilithium being used in a warp drive.

Just as starterts.

Am I the only one who is annoyed by the storyline? I would expect a bit more effort?
Probaly not. Fans get annoyed by the strangest and picayune things. What do you mean by "effort"? Maybe put a little more effort in describing what you find annoying?

Ever since discovery has landed in the 32nd century the storylines are just way to convenient.
In what way? And is it really any different than most, if not all, fiction?

I have no problem with the technological power levels sort of stagnating even over a thousand years.

there are serious limits to how far technology can progress.
At some point you will simply run into a wall called physics.
Extrapolating unlimited progression is a fallacy.
Especially it comes to terms of raw power and energy.
Stars cannot grow to infinite sizes or become hotter than a certain limit.
Black holes cannot be created above a certain size. Supermassive ones are the result of countless merges of smaller ones.

Similarly, the energy output of a particle beam might just have an upper limit.
A photon torpedo uses a matter/antimatter reaction for near perfect energy efficiency.
For a higher yield, you simply have to use more.
Thus you need a bigger torpedo.
Quantum torpedoes, or transphasic torpedoes probably are just types of photon torpedoes. Not exceeding them in yield, but modifying them with a more fancy delivery system.

where Progression happens is in thinking up new applications and combinations of technology.
But they ain’t gonna change the laws of physics.
