Boba Fett is getting his own "Star Wars" series.

The only show that wasn't announced during Disney's investor day, "The Book of Boba Fett" was revealed during an end-credits scene attached to the season two finale of "The Mandalorian."

During the episode's final moments, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) took control of Jabba the Hut's palace on Tatooine. Whether or not the the two start their own bounty hunter business remains to be seen.

Now this one interests me most of the (now) 12 series' coming.

I'm looking for this one more than I thought I would for two reasons. One, for the first time in forty years, the character is actually interesting.

And second, I've always wanted to see a deeper dive taken into the Star Wars underworld. That was the main reason I wanted to see a sequel to Solo and the main reason I'm looking forward to both this and the Lando series.

Did you see the after-credits scene? I missed it the first time, and I thought there was a lot of room on the slider, but it didn't occur to me. Kind of embarrassed.

I expect on Monday we'll get some clarification on if this is a separate series (or miniseries, or telemovie), or if it's the third season of The Mandalorian, and the series is just changing which Mandalorian it focuses on. All the news articles I've seen seem to be just going off the title card at the end of the finale.

I mean, what does a bounty hunter want with a criminal empire?

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the big event crossover they’ve indicated the Mandalorian-era shows will have — this franchise’s equivalent of The Defenders or Crisis on Infinite Earths.

I'm kind of hoping Book will actually be season three (and four?) of Mandalorian rather than a standalone. Plus, didn't they already announce season three as starting in December? I doubt Mando and Fett would both be released at the same time, but who knows.

The big event is a culmination of Rangers, Ahsoka and the Mandalorian. Those other shows won't all be released before December 2021, so Boba will likely be it's own thing.

Might NOT be a Bob A. Feet show. Could be season three of Mando.

What does a resurrected former Sith Lord want with a criminal empire?

The Star Wars criminal underworld doesn’t always make a lot of sense.

Power and control. I believe taking control of the criminal groups was also originally part of his plot for revenge against Sidious/Palpatine.

How much power did Jabba have? It was a lot since the Republic had to make deals with him for hyperspace routes, and they were one of the few criminal organizations to reject Maul's Shadow Syndicate thing. The Empire even worked with the Hutts.

I'm glad to hear it, I was hoping that was what it would be.

If this is the show that's going to be diving into the underworld, will we get to see a live action 1313? Nar Shadda? A live action Pyke that actually looks like a Pyke? Are they going to slap some crows feet makeup on Emilia Clarke? Will they be drawing any material for Lucas's abandoned 'Underworld' scripts? Are they going to build a full scale practical Hutt again?

I wonder does calling it "the Book" of Boba Fett mean it will delve into events that happened between the Prequel and original trilogy and during the original trilogy.

I'm excited for this. The character I was least interested in is now a character I'm looking forward to seeing more of.

It didn't occur to me as a possiblity, but flashbacks to fill in the missing bits and pieces of Boba's history would be pretty cool. I wonder if they'd bring back Daniel Logan for post-Prequel/pre-Original Trilogy era flashbacks?

Why not? It would be a logical choice. Although I don't know how his acting is these days but would be cool to see. They could do that shoot out with Cad Bane that they never got around to making in Clone Wars. They could have a Mace Windu revenge episode. A fight against Maul's crime syndicate episode. Hunting down Chewie episode. Lots of stuff they could do.
