There was a Rogue Group in ESB, in the EU that later became Rogue Squadron. It was formed out of Red Squadron. It was the best of the best of the rebellion.Sorry, noob question.
Does Rogue Squadron have anything to do with Rogue One?
Because that same word 'Rogue' appears in the title. Might refer to a species, or culture? Like calling it "Samurai One" but more starwarsy?
Regardless if its set between ROTJ and TFA or after TRoS, I hope in some way Wedge is a major player. My favorite side character since the OT and I love the books and comics from the 90s. I'd be up for getting some canon love for Wedge.
Hell, I remember when the title for Rogue One was first announced (but no plot details or any casting yet) there was heavy speculation that it would be a Wedge movie.
Honestly, aside from this film, I am not enthused with Disney at this point. The rest they did after Solo soured me considerably on their handling of it. Yes, I was impressed that Iger went "we screwed up" and scaled it back so they could manage it. But, this announcement feels like a full reversal of that decision and that they will just screw it up again.Excited for this too. Liked WW allot and WW84 looks like it will be solid too.
Goes without saying I think this news confirms if it wasn't already the Rian Johnson movie series is kaput too. Crazy to think Disney had plans for a SW movie a year not long ago and now we will have up to a 4 year gap between them now. Clearly a huge reset going on with that franchise.
Well, I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong, and what good would that do?Indeed, precisely because the character is exactly this amount of obscure AND notable means getting some other actor to play him would feel rather pointless.
The only recasting Star Wars fans haven't widely embraced is Alden Ehrenreich, and that's arguably more due to his movie and the drama that surrounded it than his performance. The fans have been more than pleased to go along with most recastings. The newer fans would be like "who's this guy and why should I care?" while the old fans would be like "...that's not Wedge."
I never got that. In TESB, Wedge was Rogue Three, and Luke Skywalker was the actual Rogue One. (And I didn't think for a hot second that the XW/RS books would be adapted into the RO film.)Hell, I remember when the title for Rogue One was first announced (but no plot details or any casting yet) there was heavy speculation that it would be a Wedge movie.
I think the belief was that it could be post-ROTJ with Wedge being in charge of Rogue Squadron, even if it wasn't an adaptation of the books.I never got that. They can make one. That's what writers do. They make up new stories. There's no story to tell in the ST
There's no story to tell in the ST. Hopefully it would be set during the GCW or its immediate aftermath.
