Spoilers I believe I have a VERY good Theory for the Burn...

It's the Guardian of Forever.

What got me thinking was the "portals" used for SB19.

The Guardian Can:

1. See through different DIMENSIONS, and TIME (I just rewatched City on the Edge of Forever a few days ago to confirm.)

2. Effects time like ripples in water (Pointed out by Spock, that time flows like a river etc , like I said just watched the Episode).

3. Any little change, can cause disaster.

Now, here is what cements this for me. In City on the Edge of Forever, Kirk and Spock were brought to the exact moment of convergence with Doctor McCoy and Keiler, but they had to make the choice.

The Song is just that, causing a convergence of everything and everyone to FOCUS on the same goal.

Just like the Time Ship in Voyager (Year of Hell). When a change is made in time, it takes a few milliseconds, or seconds for that change to take affect. We never learned the extent of the technology of the Guardian.

Someone, or some race, tried to either replicate the Tech, or reverse engineered it. OR Starfleet or some other race tried to cross over to the MU and tried to use Dilithium from there, which caused the imbalance, as all things from the MU vibrate at a different Quantum signature.

OR, they tried to use the Guardian tech to find Dilithium, or cross over somewhere. It either didn't work or something nefarious happened because of it.

THAT SMALL change, or whatever they did, caused Dilithium to just blow.

NOW in the preview for hte next episode, Michael is going to BOOKER's planet, to help him with something. BUT I BET, GROUND ZERO for the Burn is the Guardian Planet.

They used Tallos IV as a call back last season, I have no doubt this will be another TOS callback.

I can't edit my Thread, but to add: Remember the Guardian effects time like RIPPLES in water, so that would explain EXACTLY the millisecond delays from the centrifuge of The Burn happend.

No disrespect to Linkjoy123, I kind of dislike this a lot, BUT, if the SB thing that the Ni'Varians were working on were portals to move ships around, the Guardian of Forever technology might be a logical place to start.

What I wish they would have done is focus on the artificial wormhole technology the Trill were working on. Remember Lenara Kahn and her sweet artificial wormhole tech?

I mean we can't just wait three days for the episode that trailer tells us involved the planet the Burn originated?

Before the RMB tweets, I would never have imagined the GoF having anything to do with it.
I'm curious what they do with it, if they do ;)

Burnham uses the GoF to prevent The Burn, but the new timeline is much worse. The Burn needs to happen, Dilithium must die!

Yes.
Technically, they got it working... sure the wormhole exploded upon the probe entering it, but hey, the experiment was considered a success regardless.

How about this: Mirror Georgiou's sudden appearance in the TOS universe caused her quantum signature to create a more stable dilithium. When Disco traveled through the wormhole into the future, it was like pulling a pin on a grenade. Dilithium slowly destabilized over centuries until Boom! And, in fact, Georgiou is also destabilizing. So, the only way to fix both of them is to send her back to the 23rd century through the Guardian of Forever. There, she rejoins S31 and her show starts.

I'm only half joking...

This begs the next question: who should voice the GoF? Let me put this out there: Will Farrell in his Ron Burgundy persona!
