Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

Awesome episode. I'm so glad they didn't grag out Mando vs Ahsoka like a lesser show would have done. Have a whole episode against each other before they come together, probably to defeat a common foe, and then realise they're friends.
I actually gasped out loud at the mention of Thrawn. Whether it be this show or not, a tease for a live action Thrawn is excellent.

The only negative for me was it seemed a bit of a waste of Michael Biehn. He didn't really do much and I was hoping his "truce" at the end was gonna lead somewhere. He looks great for 64 as well (probably 63 when filmed) and made me realise it's such a shame that Alien 5 Neill Blompamp thing never happened and most likely never will. And instead we got Alien "why does this movie exist" Covenant.

It would be a huge mistake for this show to delve any deeper into obscure characters or to pick up storylines from animation. While Bo-Katan and Ahsoka are great for super fans, this show should NOT be a sequel series to the animated shows.

This show has a very broad fan base of SW die hards and more casual viewers. Everyone can get on board with a cute "baby yoda", but if they keep taking deep dives and resurrecting what are basically EU characters, it's just going to confuse and alienate those casual viewers.

Plus this show desperately needs its own identity and needs to keep building up its own roster of recurring characters instead of leaning on other parts of the franchise.

Let's hope the Thrawn shoutout was just for the fans and that the character isn't going to appear. We just don't need it.

If you are a big enough geek to know who Bo and Asoka are then you probably know who Ezra and Kanan are as well. Even though it was denied he next day I'd love for this to actually be true............There was only build up because of rumors of the casting for months.

I hadn't seen any of his posts, but a couple sites I go have mentioned that he has been teasing that he might be playing Ezra for quite a while now.

IIRC it turned out to be just a joke. Apparently he vaaaaastly underestimated the intensity of the response...

Favreau and Filloni are strong enough writers to not need to depend on the old content to define the characters. All anyone needed to know about Ahsoka was presented in that opening exchange with the magistrate.

For all intents and purposes, TCW and Rebels are glorified character bibles for the show.

*The same would no doubt be true for anyone else they brought in.

Any issue with FOMO is on the viewer.

Now I’m trying to noodle through who might do a decent job of a live action Thrawn. Michael Fassbender immediately comes to mind but then I pull back. I am at a serious loss as to who would have the gravitas to leverage that role. John Hamm maybe... I don’t know yet...

Never saw more than a couple of 'Clone Wars' eps. as it really didn't grab me; but I guess if you were a big fan of that series; this last episode probably put some of the folks over the moon.

I did really enjoy this episode myself still; and yeah, honestly for me, The Mandalorian has become the best live action Star Wars since the original trilogy bar none. I wish the guys behind this show were the ones who had been hired to do the most recent Star Wars sequel trilogy as well as the two 'side story' films; instead of JJ Abrams or that Ryan fellow.

You know it just occurred to me that if the next stop is Tython, then that means going into the deep core...which means leaving the outer rim and at least passing through New Republic territory, which is a first for this show.
The slight problem with that from a plot perspective is that it would presumably put him out of reach of Gideon, making it hard to justify the inevitable rematch at least until he makes his way back out to the rim. As committed to disarmament as the New Republic is, they're not about to ignore an Imperial capital ship making a run at the core worlds. Oh and then there's that whole "outstanding arrest warrant" thing...

I suppose the simple solution would be to just relocate Tython to the Unknown Regions like Illum and Ahch-To, as that would if anything move him *closer* to Gideon's sphere of influence (assuming the First Order connection is a thing.)

I also wonder who was it that got the kid out of the temple when Vader was hacking up the place? Also: how?! The clones seemed to have it fairly tightly locked down. It must have been a senior Jedi like Jocasta Nu who knew the secret ways in and out, not some random padawan that got lucky. Whoever they were, one assumes Vader and/or the Inquisitors caught up with them eventually.

Side note: I may be over thinking this, but is "Grogu" meant to be a Star Warsified semi-anagram/palindromic version of "George"? Drop the 'e', spell it backward gets you to "Groeg"...not a million miles off. I certainly wouldn't put it past Dave or Jon to name a "Yoda" after Lucas.

Yeah, this was good. Loved the little references. And some of the very big ones!!!

Is this season going a different way than we thought? I doubt it.... If Thrawn was named as a setup, it'll probably be for either a later season or a different show, not for Mandalorion. Following up something like that does not seem likely for this more Lone Wolf spaghetti western kinda thing.

Ashoka..... Little Ahsoka. Man, I finished Rebels not that long ago, after finishing season 7 of Clone Wars. Seeing her like this, having found her way and fully committed to who she is...... Awesome.

Javier Bardem.

But I don't think you'd get Javier to appear in a weekly streaming series. He'd be excellent, though.

Bardem would give both Thrawn and the Chiss species the gravitas, sinister feel and alien atmosphere they need to come off as menacing yet still somehow sophisticated and capable of twisting language to convince and seduce people.

I'm enjoying this show but, man, I am getting sick of having to watch multiple YouTube videos to find out who the characters are that are in it and what they are doing.

What a waste of Biehn. I thought when he was surrendering he'd become a other recurring character. The cameos are getting to be a bit much, suspension of disbelief breaking
