what's your local weather?

we call them whirlstorms. Fortunately, we rarely have any.
Today started with a rainstorm - it was pretty: coloured leaves whirling around like snowflakes. Then the sun came out and as I type the next rain front approaches rapidly. My guess is that afterwards it'll stay dry and lurk until I finish work. Then it'll drench me.

Just had one of our earliest ice storms. Hadn't even had a freeze yet, no we had to jump straight into the ice storm from hell. Have over 250k still without power. Getting back and forth to work has been like driving through a war zone since the trees all still had leaves when it hit, so the weight of the ice took them down or snapped off limbs. Finally warmer today, above freezing, but power still out in a lot of areas.

It's settled down now, but earlier this afternoon was... snow.

Not just a few gentle intermittent flakes, like you might expect this early in the season. Gusty, blowing snow that was thick enough to obscure the view up the street into a whitish haze, and enough to actually start showing up in white patches on the ground.

November 1. Not even kidding. :scream: :sigh:

ETA: I just checked our forecast, and apparently we are now under a snow squall watch!

The Weather Network said:
Flurries at times heavy and local snow squalls are expected to begin this evening and continue through the night. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm in 12 hours are possible. Strong winds along with the falling snow will reduce visibilities at times and make travel difficult.

What the serious :censored:?!? :scream::scream:

over here it's a perfect autumn morning: 6°C, a bit cloudy but getting clearer. Lovely bright moon earlier and now the sun is colouring the clouds the same yellow as birch tree leaves. The birds sing and are gathering for their flight southwards. The air is perfectly clear and you can see for miles and miles.

Cloudy, gray, a slight breeze. No heat or sun in sight.

In other words: Heaven on Earth.

That said, I still need my ceiling fan (set on low, but still) in the afternoons.

Cool, grey, rainy and windy... very windy. We have a wind warning in effect, with damaging winds with gusts of up to 90 - 110 km/h set to continue today and overnight, before finally easing up Monday morning.

With a little bit of snow expected overnight, just for fun.

Snow. Woke up to a white landscape. It has continued to snow off and on all day. Is snowing right now.

Have I mentioned how much I hate snow? Only a million times? OK then.

Sounds kind of nice. I was working out in my yard today and felt like I was about to experience heat stroke. Thank goodness for air conditioning.
