What do you think happened to the Borg?

In the year 3188 what do you think the Borg are doing? Were they affected by the Burn? Did they spread even further across the galaxy?

I think they weren't affected because they use transwarp.
If that's the case they should have spread into the alpha quadrant by then wouldn't they? Or maybe they were defeated.

They evolved into somewhat annoying holograms, casting off both the organic and machinery. But they can still be defeated by finely attenuated blinks.

Destroyed and/or liberated. The galaxy got wise to them and decided to swing by an alliance and work to decimate them, then liberate any drones and repatriate them as best as possible.

Interestingly, the Borg assimilated time travel technology. They even used it in the movie First Contact - most likely from the Krenim et al. It's interesting because with such an array of assimilated technology and resources, why are the Borg or some variation of the Borg not players in the Termporal Cold War?

The Borg just aren't into expansion. If they were, they'd already have taken over, not just in the TNG era or the ENT era but in the Cro-Magnon era. Why expand when this means there are no more cultures to assimilate? It's a bit like eating all your crops or chickens and leaving nothing to grow.

So they're just doing the same-o. Like they have always been doing. Because that's their gig. And they only ever use time travel to undo those incidents where they tried something new and it didn't work.

I hope they got their collective butts handed to them by the Feds before things went all wonky. I mean yeah i hope they were able to save and rehabilate some of them but the borg have been a plague in the milky way for almost a millennium by the time starfleet encountered them in the 24th century. so if they lasted for another 800 years then i'm sorry, that pest has to go.

Borg are probably smart enough to know not to play around to much with time travel.

Only reason they likely used it in first contact was because at some point in the future the federation does something catastrophic to the collective so they send a drone back in time to the cube at the beginning of first contact to tell them to wipe the federation out rather than assimilate it.

I'd like to think that starfleet was able to free the drones from the hive mind allowing them to have individuality and choose whether they keep their borgifications or reclaim their identities. Maybe the borg who chose to keep the implants formed a new collective but one without a hive mind and dedicated to perfection through helping others and using their technological abilities to improve lives and solve crisis's

I think the Borg stories (if they do any) will be on Picard. It makes sense Seven is on that show. They might not want to step on their toes.
