Under various furniture - in odd corners you rarely look at - possibly into that alternate dimension that only cats know about...
Human: "What happened to my leftovers?" - Kittens: "We don't know."

We gave tiny mice-toys to our previous three cats. Natasha liked to flip them high in the air, even bouncing them off the ceiling. She tossed several of them behind the stereo cabinet, which sits at an angle in the corner. It's quite heavy, so we never bothered to try to get the mice out.
We had our current three cats about a month when one day Watson got in behind the stereo and found the mice. He spent the rest of the afternoon retrieving every single mouse. It's a tight fit and four-foot jump to get back out of the corner. I image the back of the cabinet is full of claw marks now.
If you have ANY tight, inaccessible spot in your house...a cat WILL find a way in and then back out.

the homelab reddit is full of people who've got rather large computer setups at and frequently make use of racks to keep everything contained but which can often be a source of warmth and place for cats to hide but which also entail lots of cables and tight spots.

What do you feed your cats? I've been giving mine various selections of wet food from the Blue Buffalo line. Supposedly it's not common-brand-at-the-grocery-store bad but it's not great either. I looked up the supposed higher end stuff, and holy crap, one case costs the same as Blue Buffalo but I only get half the amount.
Various flavors of Fancy Feast wet food. Sometimes she will actually be in the mood for the one I pick.
