Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

Major spoilers follow.... Episode 1 of season 2.

Cobb is the person who wears Boba Fetts armor. Was he ever in another continuity such as comics? I have vague recollections of this character but I didn't know he was from recent novels.

I loved seeing the flash back to when the "second" death star blew up but was Tatooine occupied by the Empire? I imagined it was a dust ball of little interest to the Empire and controlled by crime lords like Jabba. Luke and crew must have had a hard time getting back there because in Return of the Jedi there wasn't any mention of it.

If that is Boba at the end then what was he doing for 10 years without his armor? Didn't he want it back? Will he be taking it back now?

Just the Aftermath books.

Maybe he was humbled by his near death experience.

Also it's only been 5 years since ROTJ.

I was a little disappointed we didn't jump right back into things with Gideon and all of that, but this was still a nice start to the season.
I was a little surprised when I looked Vanth up on Wookiepedia and saw that he was the character from the Aftermath books. I'd heard about his story there, but I assumed this was a different character. I thought his speeder looked familiar, but I couldn't figure out why until I saw an article on IGN that pointed out that it was one of the engines from Anakin's podracer.
That was not quite what I expected a Krayt Dragon to look like.
The stuff with the Krayt, the town, and the Tuskens was pretty good. Definitely got a big Western vibe from that whole thing.
I started to suspect that we were going to see Boba at the end as soon as Vanth showed up in his armor. I'm wondering if he might end up like Morgan during The Walking Dead Season 5, popping up at the end of a few episode following Mando and Baby Yoda, before he finally confronts them and attempts to retrieve his armor.

I too, wonder why Boba hasn't gone after all his armor after five years. I'm assuming that Jawas were nearby when Jabba's skiff blew up and they showed up to scavenge. Considering the Mando survived being swelled by the Krayt dragon, Boba was able to eject himself with his jetpack, but the ordeal left him exhausted and unconscious, so the Jawas maybe tied him up and took his armor? I guess we'll find out, or maybe we won't.

Great episode. Loved every minute of it.

I would think Jabba's death would have a more immediate impact on the planet than the Empire falling.

Also, this is up for preorder on the Disney Store website for $70.

Wookieepdia says R5 also showed up last season on Tatooine, and I do remember a Season 1 BTS video focusing on it for some shots. I'm guessing the droid was in the background somewhere.

So that was supposed to be the same droid from A New Hope?
I can't get over how expressive the Baby Yoda puppet's face is. It's got to be one of the most expressive puppets I've ever seen.

You know, now that Aftermath characters are on the table, I'm low key rooting for a Mister Bones episode...
I'm guessing they went with the sand snake design because of how the skeleton looked in ANH. There were no visible leg bones.
That was my general assumption. Which would by extension also indicate that that skeleton was of a very young (or malnourished) specimen.
Aftercrap was a steaming turd of a book and I would be happy to see the entire thing retconned.
It wasn't crap. It was bland, boring and mostly forgettable. To be fair I don't think the author had a lot to work with in terms of the narrative latitude he was allowed at the time.
Bobba must've got a used JetPack, we all know how used stuff tend to be not as reliable as brand new ones.
Pretty sure every piece of equipment he's ever owned is "used".
I swear I saw R5 in a Season 1 BTS thing (might have been that making of mini-series). Maybe they built him for Season 1 but didn't get to use him until now. (maybe he's in the background somewhere in S1?)
Yeah, he was at the cantina last season. Either he was there on an errand, or got sold in the interim.

There's a few ways they could go with this. 1) He's done with the life, just decided to retire and go full hermit. 2) smacking head first into the side of a sail barge at ballistic velocity left him with amnesia. 3) He deliberately faked his death after escaping the Sarlacc and is now operating under a new assumed identity...for reasons yet to be explored. Maybe with his two big patrons off the board his enemies outnumbered his allies and it was just safer if Boba Fett was seen to stay dead for now. Maybe he's taking a page from Maul's book and not content to always be the hired lackey, has made a power play to fill power vacuum left in the underworld by operating from the shadows.

Either way, you'd think if he was actively tracking his suit back down he'd have found and taken it back years ago. Dyn was on the planet less than a day before he ran across it. So to me that means he doesn't care about it.

Ok, that was a decent episode. The visual effects continue to be impressive and the fight with the creature was well done. I also enjoyed Cobb's character and his origin story taking place right after the Death Star. I was thinking the Armor he was wearing was one of the Fett characters, probably Boba Fett. I haven't seen the prequel trilogy in a long time.

As someone who only follows the movies and heard about this big cameo at the end, who was that guy?

Looking forward to seeing how the season develops.

I hated the ending. But then again, I always thought that Boba Fett was an overrated character who just should've stayed dead.
I was hoping when the reports of Morrison appearing as Boba Fett were first made, they screwed up and Morrison would in fact be playing Rex. Apparently not the case. I mean, I guess Rex could still show up, especially given who else we know is going to be in the season, but Boba Fett is indeed in the season after all.

.
Temeura Morrison played Jango Fett in Episode 2. He was the bounty hunter who was the genetic template for all the clone troopers, so he also played all of the clone troopers as well. Given that Boba Fett was an unaltered clone of Jango, it stands to reason that that was Boba Fett himself.

I think Sam Witwer was one of the residents of Mos Pelgo. When the Mando first pulls into town he's pushing something.
I'd take a screen cap but I don't know how to get around Disney+'s anti-picture feature.

Especially bringing Boba Fett back).
Unfortunate that they did.
entirely justified fan service
I don't see how. But, that's me. Boba Fett is simply uninspiring to bring back.

Unfortunately this is what fans want so here we are.
