Actually looking at Memory-Alpha we're both right. The ship he referred to was the Nightingale and it was a Wallenberg-class transport.

It's not black and white. There are also those who are willing to come up with in universe rationale for this appearance. It's the same thing, but the people are still the same, I think. Those who cared about consistency were bothered by the Akiraprise and are now bothered by the Discoprise and Discoshuttles. Those who didn't care back then still don't care now.
You really haven't watched a lot of TOS have you?actually abrams trek was not like Genes trek at all. The dramatic elements were totally stripped for Star Wars style action. So abrams trek is more like Star Trek Wars. Same with Kurtzmans.
It isn't that I don't care, so much as that--on a scale of 0 to 100, with 0 = "completely unimportant" and 100 = "crucially important"--I'd rate "Akira model being the source of what became the NX-01 design" or "Discoshuttle design repainted and reused to provide technically-anachronistic-but-blink-and-you'll-miss-it background activity in a future setting" in single-digits territory: not wholly irrelevant, but of pretty trivial importance relative to the larger context of Everything. It's the same thing, but the people are still the same, I think. Those who cared about consistency were bothered by the Akiraprise and are now bothered by the Discoprise and Discoshuttles. Those who didn't care back then still don't care now.
I watched every episode multiple times. just finished rewatching A Taste of Armageddon. Some heavy hitting themed in that one.You really haven't watched a lot of TOS have you?

I think ST 09 is probably the closest of TOS in contemporary clothing that I have seen. In my opinion, it did the best job of mixing the two approaches without the TNG solemnity approach to messaging.I don't know, I found ST09 had a lot of the spirit of TOS about it. Beyond felt like a frontier adventure and had some touching character moments.
The one on the right is too advanced. I can see far too much detail for me to be able to suspend my disbelief and accept it as being a design 1800 years older than the one on the left.
Trek 2009 and BEY are easily the best Trek films since FC.
