Orci wants a Captain Sulu series to 'tie the universes together'

It could still work except maybe for the fact that Cho is going to be doing the live-action Cowboy Bebop series. But I'm not sure anything is needed to tie the universes together, although it could be fun to see an alternate Excelsior crew interacting with the Strange New Worlds Enterprise crew and have Sulu meet a different version of Spock from what he's used to.

Orci should spearhead it and write it and produce it. They were writing partners and I'm sure Kurtzman could pull some strings to get Orci on board to write some DISCO and Strange eps and then branch off to Sulu.

There's a reason they aren't partners anymore..........Orci hasn't done much at all that I know of for 5 or 6 years.

If converging two universes together is the end goal, then it should be the next movie really. Too good to waste on simply using as an excuse for Cho and Takei to share a scene.

You go with a huge cast crisscrossing the franchise, facing a common threat able to be in several different times and places at once.

So either Q, or...

Future Guy essentially quits making nuisance phone calls throughout the Enterprise era, gets actual time-travel ability and becomes more of a serious threat.

I don’t think anyone cares what Orci thinks at this point.

Yeah, Orci has basically become persona non grata in Hollywood after he got himself fired from Star Trek 3 and Matador absolutely bombed. It's kind of remarkable how quickly his star fell, while Kurtzman--who is arguably of similarly limited talent--is basically the god king of Star Trek on television at the moment. Just goes to show how far personality goes.
