News? Stories from Dubious Sources

CTV has joined the production of Discovery Season 4.

CTV is owned by Bell Media, which owns Pinewood Toronto (which is where Discovery films). This most likely means that the Discovery crew can basically use Pinewood for free (no rent).

The money that would normally be spent on studio space rent will now be used for other things.

It's kind of similar to when I reported a Pike series was in the works with the title "Star Trek: Enterprise" and working title of "Strange New Worlds." A day or two after I did this, the Director's Guild of Canada added a listing saying exactly that and I think it might even have been mentioned here.

It was revealed a month or so later that the show was titled Strange New Worlds, "Star Trek: Enterprise" was completely dropped for, in hindsight, obvious reasons. People argued that I was wrong because I had the show name wrong, but I said Strange New Worlds was the working title. Yes, it's the actual title and not the working title, but how did I come up with that name?

Dude, people had known for MONTHS that SNW was happening...........a lot of us knew the working title for a long time. I tried to give you hints when you were posting that stuff that you should slow down a bit. At this point I just enjoy watching you post what you THINK you know. ;-)

If you guys know this stuff already then why are people here still doubting me lmao. Could save me a lot of hassle.

I originally came to this forum to talk with others who know stuff, actually. I heard this place was like that. Then I thought it wasn't like that and now I'm getting mixed messages.

Stop feeling so butthutt. Just post whatever you want, with the understanding that there will be people here that don’t believe you. Once you get over that hurdle, everything will be fine for you.

I have no doubt you have some secondary sources but second and third hand info can be wrong or changed before things are filmed/aired. If someone has signed a NDA they aren't going to correct you on a public forum..........they'll just let you keep maintaining it's gonna be called ENTERPRISE.......or whatever.......I personally don't know anything about your deep fake Spock episode. You say it is based on Kelvin Spock, but do you mean Prime Spock or Quinto Spock? I would think with all the Viacom synergy we would be looking at Quinto right?

Why are people leaking to people who post on a BBS seen by a tiny fraction of Star Trek's TV audience, anyway? What's the reasoning behind it? What do the productions gain, or, if the leaks aren't sanctioned, what do the leakers gain? What's the point of all this?

Hopefully, that will also mean that the show can possibily be seen on CTV as well.

I like the idea of a thread where some of the online asshats can be challenged.

But just to add, Firefox and Chrome have add-ons that helpfully block YT channels :D (I got sick of one YT in particular always turning up in any generic Trek search/recommendations list)

Where can I get these?

it's fun laughing at them but they represent something truly ugly, the advancement of the Alt-Right. Like it or not the movement is growing. They transformed Pepe the Frog in to hate speech. They help ruin Rise of Skywalker. They advance fascism, homophobia and misogyny to a very vulnerable audience. I hate bringing politics in to this but let's remember that people laughed at the Nazis and we all know how that ended.

One of them I've observed is this sci-fi author, who's now ranting about how the 'left' is destroying free speech.

They're certainly not going to improve their credibility with that story. BC is never playing Khan again.

Even in the unlikelihood of Star Trek going back to the character, it obviously wouldn't be Kelvin universe any longer, and therefore he wouldn't be asked.

I wish people would stop giving them clicks........that's all they want. #adrevenue

Speaking solely for the TrekBBS, I find that there are people who feel the need to lord things over other people (and that’s assuming that they actually have inside information in the first place), and then have the audacity to feel butthurt when we don’t take them seriously.

Edit: I’m not saying that that’s what @Vullein is doing. I’m just speaking from TrekBBS history. There was a member named Morpheus who would tease the subject of ENT episodes weeks before they were shown, to anyone who wanted to know them. He was a super-reliable source. Someone mentioning inside info about a show that’s not even going into production yet is a super-unreliable source.

Rule of thumb: if you come here claiming you have inside info, just say what that inside info is, or don’t bother posting. Don’t lord it over us, don’t ask us to beg for it. Just tell us. Or post your source.

I won't even visit WGTC (I don't want them to get the ad revenue), but here's the Google News snippet:
We Got This Covered
Benedict Cumberbatch’s Khan May Return In Future Star Trek Movie
Paramount reportedly want Benedict Cumberbatch's divisive Khan to return in a future Star Wars movie project.
Dunno. I really dislike WGTC, but this sounds legit to me. It's the next natural step after those Uber Eats commericals.

There are people who are going to know things, and people who do not. This isn't personal-this is simply the fact that "my sources say" has been used as a weapon as much as a topic of discussion.

Exactly.
