MLB Pseudo-Season 2020: Roger, Dodgers

This thing where Correa and the Astros pretend like they have no idea why everyone hates them is getting real old. They seem to have convinced themselves they did nothing wrong, and therefore everyone just hates them for being good. The fun part about the Astros is that it's barely even about the cheating. It's about the smugness, the misogyny, the asshole behavior, the complete lack of consequences, the defamation of reporters, the celebration of domestic abuse, etc.

I also really fucking hate that there are two sub-.500 teams in the playoffs. FUCK YOU, Rob Manfred.

Die hard Ass 2a.jpg tros fans are the same way.

I have enjoyed the playoffs games running from noon till 1am but some of these teams had no business getting in, the Reds went to Cobb county and just died.

I've just enjoyed a game here and there being on broadcast TV, since I canceled cable in 2016.

They were on a roll and then had the rug pulled out. That's baseball, esp. when it's 2 outta 3. Live by the long ball, and eventually you will die from the lack of it.

Have no fear, the Astro's aren't getting anywhere near this misshapen world series. But if they do, don't worry, I'll be here to irritate everyone.

Have you ever tried driving thru, or around Hot-lanta to get to South Florida? Whatta' hot friggin' mess, I thought I would die there a time or two, but I had my cloaking system up. :rommie:
A few times, I always scheduled it go past Atlanta at 2am, beautiful city in the middle of the night with no traffic :D

I have to admit. I am one old fart baseball fan who enjoys looking at tournament brackets and I'm really loving eight playoff games in one day. Maybe there's a tiny glimmer of hope for 2020 after all.

I've always said that baseball needed to expand its postseason by at least a couple teams. There are always teams that are on the cusp, but can't outspend the Yankees or Dodgers or Red Sox or are in a division where they just can't break through. I'm also happy to have a three game play-in instead of one game.

Bob Gibson passed away today at the age of 84 under hospice care after a bout with pancreatic cancer.

Indeed, it is. We timed it better going back north.
-----------------------------

And to add, I almost got whacked in N.Y.C. once when a similar type of jerk-wad "decided" that the lane of traffic that I was in was "better" than his and cut us off. But, I learned how to drive in snow when I was a kid, so I swerved outta of it. My shields were up and we made it to Old Yankee.

We can talk about Chi-town hi-ways some other time.

Every time I see some young prima donna make like he's going to charge the mound because someone came up and in to keep them from crowding the plate, I think of Bob Gibson. He used to say "I'll give you half the plate, but I won't tell you which half." I don't recall anyone ever charging the mound on him. Tim McCarver said he hated it when the manager sent him to the mound to stall for time when Gibson was pitching. He said the usual reception he got was "What are you doing here?" One time McCarver said Gibson told him "The only thing you know about pitching is you can't hit it!" He also held a grudge. Years after he retired he admitted he held grudges to the point where he hit a guy during an old-timer's game, because the guy pissed him off during their playing days. Quite a guy.

The Marlins have never lost a postseason series in their history.

Fuck it, let the team of destiny ride once more.

Also, RIP Cubs, it was a good run. I fully expect Kris Bryant to have a new home next season, along with potentially Contreras, and I expect the team to try and offer a below-market contract to Rizzo instead of exercising his $16 million option. Baez will likely be shopped, too, and potentially Schwarber. Tom Ricketts has made it abundantly clear he's never spending above the luxury tax threshold again, so I can't wait for another century of futility. Thank God we'll all be dead in 15 years.

Kenesaw Mountain Landis' name is being removed from the MVP award by the BBWAA (in a rare example of the BBWAA not having its collective head up its ass).

Somewhere, suddenly, a whole bunch of racist jackwagons who only just now learned his name was on the award are furious about the "destruction of history" going on here.
