That episode was probably the best episode of the season. What a tribute to the movies, and we actually got character progression leading into the finale. I loved the Tribute to TMP with the flyby, the Tribute to ST II and III with Vintica rising in the Genesis device, and the ending with the tribute to Star Trek VI and the sign off. Once the poll is available I might give this episode a 9 or 10.

Wow, Tendi thinks Mariner is RACIST.

    And she's not wrong.

Also, Tendi is right, this is MESSED UP.

    Edit:

Okay, this should have been the season finale.

Mariner needs to either be sent to the federation funny farm or something cause there’s no way in hell she would be allowed to stay on the Cerritos let alone in starfleet so long. She gets away with too much crap and she literally is the only reason I have issues with this show.

    She was spreading freedom!

Freedom from being used as food!

And she's literally the only reason I care about this show, like, at all.

Are the lizard people and dog people the one from that one episode where Riker said humans no longer eat meat?

Because I agreed with them that humans were barbaric for that.

My first time rating an episode a 10. What a fantastic episode and an awesome tribute to James Horner's Wrath of Khan soundtrack! I really want to have a single of that TWOK LD theme variant released.

"It's the eighties, dude, we don't have psychiatric problems!"

    Ducking giant words in space!

    "Who's Xon?"

    Flyover sequence!

"And for your information, many Orions haven't been pirates for over FIVE years!"

Also love how they gave us a shot of the Cerritos in spacedock a la Star Trek TMP's Enterprise revelation. The Horner inspired score playing really felt like I was watching classic Trek.

Tendi's family was totally a bunch of space pirates. I'm glad she didn't turn out to have been an ex-slave herself, though.

Another ridiculous and eclectic mess of Trek references. This broke more fourth walls than Thomas Magnum.

    A 7. :)

I loved the not-so-subtle digs at the Kelvin-verse movies with the gratuitous lens flare and Rutherford's line about being able to do whatever you want with beaming in a movie.

I knew that having to rewatch the first few seconds because that "Well, we *are* delicious." line was so damn funny meant this was going to be a good one. :bolian:

The Cerritos warp jump straight out of the Kelvin Timeline and STID was funny to see.

I loved Boimler's reaction to learning that Mariner is the Captain's daughter.

I'm pretty sure everybody in the Senior staff knows that Mariner is the Captain's daughter.

I died at the TMP-style extended beauty shots of the Cerritos.
