I watched the next three episode since my last post, and I have to confess I'm starting to really like all of the characters. Mallory actually hasn't been quite as annoying in these ones even.
I was surprised how quickly Ty went to Briar Ridge and then came back to Heartland, I expected that to go on a lot longer.
Episode 6, One Trick Pony, had Anthony Lemke, who played Three/Boone on Dark Matter, as Lou's boyfriend from New York. I'm curious to see how many other family faces from the Canadian acting community pop up.
I just checked and this must be the only show filmed in Canada that Mike Dopud hasn't appeared in.

Wow, it had been that long since I finished season 1.
I've started Season 2 now, and I'm really enjoying it again.
I just watched the episode with Kit's first appearance, which feel especially appropriate after hearing about Tatiana Maslany being cast as She-Hulk.
I'm glad they have Amy and Ty already starting to work out their issues. They seem to move through their story arcs on this, I expected to spend most of the season with Amy being pissed at Ty and the Lou setting up her "corporate equine retreat", but both they are already moving through both arcs pretty fast.

Beachcombers would like a word. That show ran for 19 seasons ;) From 1972 to 1990.

Was that actually Tatiana Maslany, and Cindy Busby doing the barrel racing or did they stunt doubles for that kind of stuff?

Heartland is "apparently" regarded as a different category "one hour scripted drama" rather than a "comedy drama" ala The Beachcombers.

    YMMV.

That's a weird one, as I'd just consider both of them dramas. Never really noticed the comedy aspect. And if one wants to get technical, Murdoch Mysteries has also been around longer than Heartland.

Not according to Wikipedia, it lists Heartland at 214 episodes (over 14 seasons, since 2007) and one tv movie, versus 208 episodes (over 13 seasons, since 2008) and 3 specials for Murdoch Mysteries.

I guess they're more or less one season off. I think the reason for that is that originally Murdoch was on CityTV for 5 seasons, then was off the air for a bit as technically they'd ended the show until the CBC picked it back up airing it for another 6+ seasons. Techinically, they're both very close in episode count.
