What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

That's none of your business.
=(
Don't be like that.

But if you believe that people of different countries are so different that people from other countries can never portray them correctly then you should have no difficulties telling me my "ethnic and national heritage"
It's hard to tell over the internet when I can't hear you, see you, or interact with you IRL.

You're just a screen handle that's replying.

Nope, you said it was wrong that Red October cast an Sean Connery instead of a Russian. That a French woman shouldn't play an English Queen and that skill was less important than having some random ancestor who matches the ethnicity of a character.
It's my preference.

Sorry I don't feel comfortable with revealing that information on a public forum, it has nothing to do with you.

I can tell you truthfully that from all the people from other countries I have interacted with in person while speaking English none have ever guessed where I was from before I revealed it. Most of those people actually thought that I was French. One person once even thought that I was from the UK.

Ok, I guess it's up to the rest of us to share vague details about or RL on the same public forum.

Guess #1: You're from Singapore?

Let's post some delicious controversy already.

5 reasons why Chakotay would have been a better captain than Janeway...

1. Chakotay PROMOTED people. In Before and After, we had Commander Tuvok, LCDR Paris, and Lieutenant Kim.

2. The writers wouldn't have been worrying so much about making him seem weak/cold/overly masculine/overly feminine/whatever. He could have had more consistent character traits.

3. He had a better "Captain's Log" voice. Janeway's sounded like an aggravated middle school principal.

4. As a person who broke rules to save his own home, I think he would have let Tom save the ocean from destruction.

5. Don't really see him coldbloodedly terminating Tuvix, either.

Janeway kicked ass. End of

You just didn’t like Janeway. Noted and logged. I realise you’re joking and i’m playing along

Actually... I DID like Janeway. She had some incredible moments. (I still get teary when she says goodbye to Tuvok in "Year of Hell", and her last line ["Time's up"] is epic). Now, I can't say I liked her all the time, because her character varied so much. Even her voice grew on me over time. But she wasn't perfect.

And in any case, this topic is about creating controversy. Given the suddenness and intensity of your reaction, I'd say I created some.

Yea we don’t want controversy on this site, or else we’ll get smacked

oh yea, i live for controversy

This is absurd. Hollywood isn’t going to hire because of ethnic origin anytime soon, and the greater question is why should they?

All they need do is hire someone who is competent in the role.
Hollywood always hired based on ethic origin, the ethnicity for many decades was European (Caucasian), the argument (has been and still is) for them to recognise European is not the only ethnic group on the planet

Yoeman Zahra was a half breed,
The character and actor was 100% human, she was about as half a breed as you are'
And I prefer casting a role that is accurate to the ethnicity that is written on paper.
Not just arbitrarily dump somebody into that role because they're close enough.

I wouldn't want an American to play a Brit, and I don't want Brit's playing Americans.

I'd prefer if everything matched as close to reality as possible.
I bet you are not a Casting Director
