What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

I still think Ezri was the better character and what little we got of her caught my interest more than Jadzia did over six seasons.
But one season, especially with it being the shows last one with so much already going on, there was just not enough time to properly develop Ezri. She hsould have showed up by season 4.

Edit: Season 4, I meant season , not episode.

The Federation was in on the Gideon’s plan to kidnap Kirk.
That does explain a lot of the oddities with that episode. After all, the Gideonites apparently have a population of untold billions, yet retain beautiful cities and keep all their citizens fed. I'm sure the Feds would be interested in that technology and all it costs them is a few images of a 20 year old spaceship and a specific captain to spearhead the the first contact mission. What a bargain!

Ezri had an advantage in that the rules for Trills were a little more established. At the start of the show, the symbiont personality was dominant. At the point of "Playing God", they had decided to make the host personality dominant instead. Which makes sense; I don't see people being eager to undergo symbiosis if they knew their personality would be subverted.

However, Jadzia had much more time to be established as a character. Ezri had one season, and a war to contend with.

I agree with this.

Ezri got a level up, but does she demonstrate the improvements in her life?

Trek's always ridden the woke edge. It featured TV's first interracial kiss, it had Dax's girl on girl action in "Rejoined". Now it has gay couples and non-binary characters. Like it or don't like it, it's how Trek rolls.

JarJar Abrams and Bad Reboot destroyed Star Trek.

Star Trek needs to drop the woke 2016 identity politics and start focusing on telling good stories.

I’m sure that’s controversial enough.

People are going to love you.

not to mention, there were 2-3 different versions of Jadzia as the series went along. The early brainy version, the more fun and flirty version. And the final version that was a combination of the two, while also mixing in her love for Worf.

Wasn't it the first scripted interracial kiss?
Nope. Star Trek's wasn't until 1968:
Sea Hunt
In the Sea Hunt episode "Proof of Guilt" aired 16 August 1959, Lloyd Bridges and Nobu McCarthy (nee Atsumi) shared a kiss near the end of the episode which Bridges' character described as "the best testimonial I'll ever get in my life".

Adventures in Paradise
An episode of Adventures in Paradise titled "The Big Surf," broadcast in 1960, featured two scripted kisses: One between actress Pilar Seurat and actor Robert Sampson, and another with Seurat and Gardner McKay.

I Spy
An episode of I Spy titled "The Tiger" broadcast on January 5, 1966,featured a scripted interracial kiss between Eurasian actress France Nuyen and Robert Culp.

Movin' with Nancy
A December 1967 TV special, Movin' with Nancy, featured a kiss between Nancy Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.Although this was technically the first time a Caucasian kissed an African American on television in the United States, it differed from "Star Trek" in that Sinatra only kissed Davis on the cheek instead of lip-to-lip.

Possibly. All I know is the between deBoer and James Darren, they pretty much ruined the final season of the show for me. Probably some of the least rewatchable Trek this side of Discovery and Picard.
I liked Ezri and deBoer was good in the part but I agree about James Darren, nothing against him personally but I despised the Vic character, how much screentime he got, the stupid songs and that everyone treated him like a person. Vic's as a location didn't even make sense, they put a casino/bar into a casino/bar, it was literally just Quark's.

They don't need to drop anything, this is actually the first time Star Trek lives up to its own hype when it comes to representation and inclusiveness and referring to that as "woke identity politics" is telling.
