Things you remember from when you were younger?

When I was young I remembered that I didn't need anyone. And Making Love was just for fun. It's a shame those days are gone.

I remember both New Coke and Cherry Coke and Crystal Pepsi. Also Big Chew gum and even candy cigarettes.

I still have a Crystal Pepsi in my refrigerator from the last time they brought it back several years ago. I never got around to trying it.

Viewmaster. I freaking LOVED that thing. I even had the big, red plastic box to "organize" all the discs.

It's hard to believe I was once *that* entertained by slides.

Saw those as a kid though never had one. - I do seem to remember them being on a cover of a dvd more recently though (And even that's a while back - Wonderfalls?)

Does anyone remember Colorforms, those cut-outs of people and animals that you could stick to a fold out diorama that came in the box?
I had the King Kong one based on the 1976 remake where the board opened up to reveal the village and the gate and it came with Kong, the snake and characters from the movie.
I also had that plastic girder and panel set that you could make skyscrapers out of. I built the twin towers and had a toy gorilla on the top pretending to be King Kong.

Yes, I had the Star Trek colorforms. Had a lot of fun with them in those pre-home video days.

YES! I almost put that in my post yesterday. I used to spend my spare change at a shop on the way home from school. I always picked up a few pieces of Bazooka--not for a rock-hard bubble gum (but, hey, it was sugary gum; who cared?) but for the Bazooka Joe comics. There was something my little-kid-self found very appealing about those teeny-tiny comics.

I feel old when I tell our friends kids we used to have cords on our phones! Also no remotes for the tv. Had to watch commercials. People wrote letters to each other. Didn't have texting and computers. I typed letters. When I was in high school computer were just being taught. I missed it by one year!

I used to fear the sound of the old rotary phone ringing.

My parents adopted me when they were up in years, and had older siblings.

It seemed to me that every time that damn phone rang, it would be yet another death.

I have found that old soda eventually goes flat, even in those airtight containers. I discovered this when I came across an abandoned stash of Diet Pepsi cans at work, which were about five years past the "best by" date.

When I was a kid, there were people who were in charge of the elevators. You went in and told them which floor you wanted. Then, they manually closed the iron scissor gate and then the solid door, and up (or down) you went. They were also in charge of how many could come in and who had to wait.

I'm trying to limit my soda intake. Sometimes when I have it, I'll dilute it with a little seltzer water. It works with flat soda almost as well.
