Why Starfleet changes uniform styles so bloody often

Too many people have "Free time" on their hands if they're worrying about uniforms and not making something that is perfectly "Functional" and "Useful" while looking good.
That's the thing, different people have different opinions on those subjects. In a largely post-scarcity society, changing uniforms may not be that big of a deal.

Regardless of "Post-Scarcity" or not, changing for the sake of changes sake is just "Wasteful".

I don't want society to be "Wasteful" just for the sake of it to create "Artificial Work".

It's bad fundamentally and there are SOO many other things that they can be focusing on then "Uniform Fashion".

JMS?
Cringe worthy dialogue
Casting mediocre actors

Not a B5 fan, sorry.
I appreciate the foundations of JMS concept of B5 but overall it never got me. I think PsiCorps just was too painful to keep going with.

Since its post-scarcity and they work to explore different artistic endeavors I see fashion changes to be right in light with this world.

It really isn’t, they are just taking the base matter and reorganizing it. Zero waste.
Exactly. As well as allowing people who are more creative in that area (people not me) to express themselves and contribute to Starfleet as well. Why, it's almost like there is this cosmopolitan approach were multiple people can contribute in their own unique way. If only we had some name for such a diverse concept ;)

Sure, if your job is to be a "Fashion Designer" for the general public.
I get that, that makes sense.

StarFleet is supposed to have some Military in them, and tradition to go with that.
Change for changes sake seems like a huge waste of resources.

It costs energy to recycle that uniform and it costs energy to replicate a new one.

Nothing is absolutely free. Law of ThermoDynamics.

On top of that, there are procedures to test new uniforms, to deploy them, to write up new regulations about them.

All really pointless work whose time can be used for other things that are more important things.

Fashion & Costume designers, there are PLENTY of other things to design other than the StarFleet Uniforms.
