Gaaaah. Watched it twice and it didn’t register. I was just impressed how cool they were about him finding his own place. People who do security are not always cool with you leaving their ranks.

It's an odd name since bears don't usually form packs. Maybe Bajoran Bears do. ;)

They do form bear stacks though.

Maybe Shaxx likes stacks of bears in packs?

Obviously a reference to California Golden Bears.

Honestly LD is the only show right now I'm looking forwards to. (I enjoy some other current TV shows but they are either on hold or still in production at the moment)

This one phrase jumped out at me:

Could we be seeing Lower Decks reruns on Comedy Central in the future?

Welp, after four episodes this show is really catching my attention.
I find I really like the main theme and the characters are starting to make more sense with thier development.

I haven't really been a fan of Mariner but with Episode 4, I now understand where she's coming from.
    'Parental Hovering' IS very annoying.

I also like that her first name is Beckett.

Ok the "oh yeah, it's mostly that" line was pretty good.

The computer's "Hitting it" made me laugh.

agreed. I wish we were there already, from a technical pov. just randomly talking about writing a dissertation or designing the ultimate living space in front of the laptop and then tell the computer to 'hit it' out of nowhere.

I wonder if we are gonna get a flashback episode that shows Mariner as a Boimler type ensign.

I don't think she ever was. Boimler is a naive rube with no practical experience even a year out of the Academy. Mariner grew up a Starfleet brat on Starfleet ships and is a clear prodigy in street smarts, at least. She's jaded, and something made her become so, but I feel she always had a high degree of rebellion and no love for authority.

I am willing to bet some latinum that the next plot will be:

    * Mariner refuses to believe Boilmer has a girlfriend
    * Horribly embarrasses her and almost ruins the relationship
    * Apologies and tries to make amends.
    * Boimler and she break up for entirely unrelated reasons.

Anyone want to take this bet?

    Not you, Quark!

I must say that at the beginning, Lower Decks seemed to be rather similar to Matt Groening´s Fantasy show Disenchantment, which is also half-comedy, half-serious and has maybe too much case of splitted identity. However, it seems that unlike Disenchentment, LD writers have much clearer vision of what they are doing. Then again, they are still working with bigger potential than we are seeing at the time.
