News Disney's Live Action Mulan

The only reason I wasn't sure is because most of the other new movies posted online have just been temporary rentals.

Not a fan of wuxia movies I take it?
I didn't say that, and it doesn't follow from what I said. I am a fan of many genres, including wuxia.

I would have preferred a more distinctive style for this project, a style that, despite the legendary nature of the subject, might allow the viewer to come away thinking that the story might be at least half-way plausible. That's not what I saw in the trailer. What I saw were action pieces determined so to speak to compete at the extreme of implausibility (I know, what I was I thinking, that it could possibly have been something more grounded). So, for me it's a hard pass. But, enjoy!

A bit confusing. Seems rather harsh that you need a plus subscription to watch the movie if you’ve paid $30 for it

At that price you should own a copy. Just feels very sleazy. At least Amazon allows you to purchase movies without a Prime subscription
Yeah, I get that creating a separate class of Disney+ users, who only want to buy Mulan without subscribing to the rest, would be a logistical nightmare, but this is fishy. You're not really buying the movie, you're renting it for a month. (Allowing former subscribers continued access to the movie alone would be less intrusive, I think, but still kinda weird.)

That offer would only be good for a month? Is this confirmed?

For 30$ it better be ownership, if only digital (but you may lose if you ever cancel the Disney+ subscription).

It's a test baloon to see how people will react and if they will use this. However i don't expect this to actually be able to finance a movie that cost 100+ million, for this you still need the big theater chains with their multiplexes.

Donnie Yen is a Communist Party arse-licker who celebrated the subjugation of Hong Kong.
So? Gal Gadot is an enthusiastic supporter of the murder of Palestinian civilians, doesn't make Wonder Woman a bad movie. Clint Eastwood is a jackass who thinks yelling at an empty chair is a compelling argument, yet he's a consistently great director. Gene Roddenberry was a philandering hypocrite who fucked Alexander Courage out of royalties for the TOS theme, and yet here we are on a message board dedicated to his legacy.

Yeah..........I was looking forward to this. The trailer looked epic. Back in the 90s when my kids watched the VHS tapes to death I enjoyed Mulan most of all. $30 might be a bargain for a family, but I do not see me shelling it out.

I think the key question is: in order to really honor the theatrical experience, will this Disney+ "purchase" of a movie begin with 25 minutes of non-skippable previews? :p

None of that invalidates his point. You don't cancel one out with the other.
