MLB Pseudo-Season 2020: Roger, Dodgers

4 more positives on the Cards (now 1 player and 3 staff members). Today's game with the Brewers "postponed".

The 2 Phillies staffers, does anyone wonder if they're the poor suckers who had to clean up the visitor's clubhouse after the Marlins left?
One staffer works in the visitor's clubhouse — what they do specifically hasn't been said, presumably to protect their privacy, but cleaning the clubhouse could certainly be part of it — and the other works in the home clubhouse, which is part of why everyone's been waiting to see if any Phillies players test positive. Since they haven't had any so far, I'm thinking maybe the staffer who worked in the visitor's clubhouse somehow transmitted it to the other staffer in some communal area where trash gets left before going to the dumpsters, or where dirty towels get collected.

Staffers probably hang out in their own breakroom, so not a stretch one gave it to the other.

:) I have my grandfather's Radio--WLW-- on which we listened to the games together when they were not on TV.

This is from a local Cincinnati Enquirer column which I can not link.

The memories remain.

By: Paul Daugherty

At the Curnutte home in Dixon, IL, the radio rested on the corner of the kitchen table, no less an authority than Buddha at a temple. It was modest and imperfect and as such a fair representation of the family it entertained. Or any family, for that matter.

John Curnutte lorded over the radio. His kids grew up with it, his wife cooked suppers listening to it. The radio was less than a foot wide and barely 6 inches tall, no bigger than a bread loaf. In the summertime at the Curnutte home, it sounded like life.

The Cubs on WGN, the White Sox on WMAQ and, most dearly, the Reds on WLW. AM stations all: 720, 670, 700. So close together that, with a deft turn of the dial, John could keep track of all three teams. The Reds were his passion.

He grew up in Huntington, W. Va., in the 1930s, back when the Reds were regional kings. He’d road trip to Crosley Field, he loved Johnny Bench. Four decades later, living in Dixon, John would drop off his son Mark at Miami University in Oxford, and take in a game on his way back home.

On nights when the atmosphere turned the sounds of WLW into a crackly mess, John would take a beer out to the driveway and listen to the Reds on the car radio. Otherwise, he’d be in the kitchen, gently nudging the box or pulling its antenna to make the Reds game hum instead of grumble.

Oh...k-rap. This one? :ouch:

^ Fortunately, no I don't have any pics.

(It's like the Trolli ad...you're better off not knowing what it looks like.  )

I appreciate and want to thank you for sparing us of such a shocking sight as it must have been for you.

But, could it really be worse than the Phillie Phanatic?

Another baseball anomaly for 2020. The other night, for the first time in MLB history, the Dodgers' Will Smith hit a lead-off 2-run homer. Only in 2020.

Mets are managing to get their asses kicked by the Braves again... :sigh:

And Yoenis Cespedes has gone off the grid. Didn't show up for the game and no one can get ahold of him. :wtf:

1st game of the Redlegs vs. Tigers 7 inning/game doubleheader has finally started. Reds 2-0 top of the 3rd is coming up.

We played 7 innings in soft-ball back in the day. ;)

Redlegs win game 1 of the first 7 inning softball game doubleheader. :techman:

As the Old left-hander, Joe Nuxhall , used to say on the radio, "if you don't win the the first one..."

Now, "let's play two." --Ernie Banks
