The hardest thing in sports is to hit a round ball with a round bat...or a virus.

As much as it pains me, yes shut it down.

It's those damned Magic City wings. Doesn't everyone get their wings at a strip club?

In the strip clubs that I visited many moons ;) ago in Chi-town, Russian was the dominant language, and their "wings" were of a different flavor back then.

And someone stole my Magic City hat on the bus ride back home. :angryrazz:

Manfred set up the whole Houston getting thrown at scenario by refusing to actually take a strong stance on their cheating.

What has been old...has never changed.

Durocher the Spymaster: How much did the Giants prosper from cheating in 1951?

In the summer of 1951, the New York Giants under manager Leo Durocher began to employ an elaborate sign-stealing scheme. The Giants needed to overcome a 13.5-game deficit to the Brooklyn Dodgers to set up a historic playoff. The question is not whether the Giants stole signs, but what effect the sign-stealing had on the Giants’ remarkable comeback.

Leo Durocher, who is said to have said “nice guys finish last”—also the title of his autobiography— plausibly could have asked, “who said cheaters never prosper?”

That's baseball. :klingon:

Steal all the signs you want, take all the steroids, you still need to hit the ball.

That said, organized cheating of the Astros level should have resulted in a lot more punishment and stripping of any championships. The shit shouldn't have to be stuck to the clubhouse wall to be enforced.

Like betting on games? Or stripping the Patriots of a title or three?

btw, I have met Pete Rose upon numerous occasions, and have his autograph on many baseballs and wall-posters before he started charging $ for it. Johnny Bench is an a-hole also.

Meanwhile, the Marlins are the gift that keeps on giving:

NBC Sports Philadelphia: Miami Marlins players reportedly went out in Atlanta before team's COVID-19 outbreak

6abc Philadelphia: Philadelphia Phillies' visiting clubhouse staffer tests positive for coronavirus

SHUT IT THE FUCK DOWN ALREADY.
More news from Philadelphia of the FUCK YOU, MIAMI variety:

6abc Philadelphia: 2 more Phillies staffers positive for COVID-19; Blue Jays series postponed

So in addition to infecting a staffer who works in the visiting team clubhouse, now one of the Phillies' coaches has tested positive, along with a staffer who works in the Phillies' clubhouse. So far no players have tested positive.

THANKS A FUCKING LOT, MARLINS. I HOPE THAT NIGHT IN ATLANTA WAS WORTH IT.

No way this season goes the whole way. I think it will be shut down. Someone is going to eventually die and then they will have no choice. What they are doing right now might be one of the most unethical things MLB has every done.

Jason

Unfortunately I believe you are right.

The hardest thing in life is to face the truth. Before this point the hardest in baseball was to hit a round ball with a round bat. "We" are in the box against a hard slider and there ain't no apparent way of getting out of the way, at this point. : (

I not feel sorry for Miami . but i do feel sorry for the Blue Jay who don;t do any thing wrong ,and they still can''t play a game. hack they not have a home base to play in yet!

I was in and out of the truck all day so I didn't hear the full story, so someone else may want to confirm this, but this morning my local sports station was saying that no-where in the 119 page document worked out between the owners and the players dealing with the shortened baseball season is there section that relates to COVID -19 and what to do it a player or players become infected and only now are teams receiving memos that maybe they should have team physicians be on hand to consult with regarding the virus.

It wasn't worked out between the league and the union, it was a memo issued by the league with guidance for COVID protocols. However, that 103-page memo did not require teams to have physicians on hand for daily testing and left it up to the individual team's discretion.

The Marlins weren't doing daily testing, even though the false negative rate in the first four days of infection is over 90 percent.

Might be a coincidence but something might be happening with the Rangers pitchers. Jose Leclerc has a similar shoulder muscle tear as his teammate Corey Kluber and is most likely out for the rest of the season, too.

Did the Rangers inherit the old Mets pitching coach (I forget his name)?

Seven inning doubleheaders are now a thing. Pass.
Yeah, fuck that shit. Stop forcing this season! :scream:
