What purpose would that serve for this comedic cartoon show?

Is there a general consensus here that recasting Odo or Nog would be somehow offensive to their memories? I mean, ignoring the recent films, Spock/Pike/Number One were recast for Discovery. Is it just the recentness of the actors' passing?

I don't see any reason for Odo to show up at all. Nog might be the best choice for Chief of Ops at DS9, if they visit, but as I said before, the best tribute is to have him in the background doing his job. Recasting or reusing dialogue doesn't seem right for that character.

Now... if they were to do a "Trials and Tribble-ations" like homage, either a time travel adventure to DS9 or just a flashback to Jack Ransom's glory days as a sewage tech on the station, then they might be okay reusing dialogue from the original episodes with the scenes drawn in the correct style. And maybe Ransom can lie and say he was actually responsible for some of the biggest developments in the Dominion War (and then bring in Terry Farrell or Alexander Siddig to fawn over the handsome sewage tech in his extended imaginary flashback).

I'm sad the window seems to have closed on a pop-in from Nichelle Nichols, even in animated voiceover form. Streaming Trek has been doing such an overall excellent job of correcting for the blind spots of the Berman era. One outrageous blind spot is that Uhura is literally the only TOS character they did nothing with (we even got Janice Rand!). And then they would give those infuriating interviews about why not -- "Uhura just didn't seem like a fun idea" or some bullshit -- and it was painfully obvious these producers just couldn't imagine any possible use for her, now that she was no longer a hot young babe in a mini-skirt.

Beyond that, I'd like to be surprised by the randomness of any potential cameo's. And Morn, I would like some Morn. :bolian:

They need to travel back to "The Trouble With Tribbles" and "Trials and Tribble-ations", and awkwardly insert the animated characters into the live action footage from those episode. And then one of the alien crewmembers will look at the live action humans and will say "Those are Humans?" and one of the humans will be like "They are Humans, and it is a long story." and then a laugh track plays.

Any visit to DS9 (and I hope they visit! And I want them to dock with Captain Chakotay's Voyager!) will be seen from the POV of our lower deck heroes. So while Captain Freeman may be having an unseen but tense conversation with Station Commander Kira, we get only the jist of it third-hand from a junior officer to Boimler while Rutherford and Tendi go hit the Dabo tables and Mariner gets drunk and kicked out of the holosuite.

Lower Deckers of DS9 are more likely to make an appearance and get involved than the senior staff (which is where Nog would be, especially given his no-nonsense demeanor).

I'm sorry to hear this, it seems he's gone the way of Andrew Probert.

Getting back on subject, I always wanted to see Tosk and the Hunters again. Imagine these guys trying to hide him. It could be a fun romp.

Really hardcore conservative shit. He's got opinions on immigration that make Trump look like a soft core hater by comparison.

I can't find anything specific he's said, but some have said he was a follower and fan of Alex Jones and he has spoken out against "SJWs" on Trekyards apparently.

But none of this really matters to me. I won't get irate looking at the Probert-designed Galaxy class, I won't get upset watching Reg Barclay fidget, I won't write angry letters after watching Manny Coto's great work on Enterprise.

People often say that celebrities shouldn't express their political opinions. I disagree with that assessment. The work they produce should be judged on its own merit, independent of the ideas they espouse in public or private.
