Ghost Of Tsushima

Anyone else picking this up? I pre-ordered it last week as it's my most anticipated game of the year. I'm a big fan of Akira Kurosawa's classic samurai films and own several of them, including Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Hidden Fortress and of course, Seven Samurai. As such, one of the biggest selling points for me is the "samurai cinema" mode, that allows you to play in black and white (with film grain) as well as the Japanese vocal track with subtitles to get the full experience of a classic Kurosawa samurai film. The game lets you do this at the onset, so I'll be playing this way as I've been watching my Kurosawa films lately as a lead in to the game. Just as I've been able to approximate Eastwoods "Man With No Name" outfit in RDR2, I hope to be able to approximate Sanjuro's outfit in this game. :)

This may be the one huge open world game that I play through twice though, because the colors in this game are gorgeous and I want to be able to experience that aspect of the game as well. So anyone else excited for this?

New bad ass trailer:

I'm pretty stoked for it. I can't decide if I want to play it in color or black and white first. I've really liked Sucker Punch's inFamous games, so I can't wait to see them do something different.

Yeah, it was a tough choice. But thanks to my classic Kurosawa kick, I've been in a "black and white" mood lately. I just completed Shadow Of The Colossus (well, 100 % trophy completion and all golden relics) and decided to play the game in BW mode (with film grain) and mirror mode as my last play through for awhile. I've played the game through some seven times and the BW mode, with no music (which was a bit jarring as it's so ingrained into me to hear it when it does actually play) gave it a nice late 50's / early 60's art film vibe.

Anyway, the way I figure it for Ghost is, I'll play it in BW mode to get my "real time Kurosawa" vibe, then play it in gorgeous color the second time. I figure that will be as close to playing it for the first time again as it will get. I think from a visual stand point, it'll be more satisfying having color come second as it will be more impressive seeing some of the incredible visuals explode with wondrous colors. Your mileage may vary of course.

I definitely want to play it, but I'm watching my money right now, and I chose The Last of Us Part II over this. Once I'm in a better place financially, I do plan on getting this.

Same, but chose this game instead. Wasn’t as excited for Last Of Us 2 for some reason. Felt like the first game told a pretty complete story, and was mixed on the idea of a sequel. Still, it’s a definite buy down the road.

I worked all day today and all day tomorrow but Monday I plan on getting a 2 TB external hard drive for my PS4 Pro and downloading this game. Can't wait!

This was the first game I digitally pre-ordered. It went live at midnight last Thursday, so I expected not to be able to play it until Friday night after work. When I checked the timer around 7p, I noticed it said four hours, then I realized it was coming at midnight Eastern Time. So I played some God of War until 10:50 and played on my phone until the last minute, hitting the start button the instant that thing hit zero. Got to play for an hour, then spent all weekend playing because my vehicle's in the shop.

My grade: A-

The bad: Some minor graphic issues like walking through bamboo trees, feet disappearing into ground when going up or down stairs, Japanese track doesn't lip synch well and long shots for a lot of cut scenes.

The good: Everything else. When the game loads for the first time, it lets you select how you want to experience it. Color or BW, Japanese track or English. I selected "Kurosawa Mode". BW with Japanese track and subtitles. So I've been playing this game for almost a week in black and white and I'm loving it. I've switched over to color a few times and it's pretty, but almost overwhelming and I happily return to BW mode. I'm approaching this like a movie, so right now I'm playing the original version, and when I play through again, it'll be the full color remake! :)

Combat is smooth, relatively easy and very cinematic. I've been playing this game more as a samurai because this is my "play as close to Sanjuro as I can" play through. I've started picking up some of the Ghost techniques because some missions require stealth and it's harder without some of them.

Photo mode is awesome to play around in. It's easy to get to, and lots of options to make cool pics. I've take a lot and imagine that I'll be taking a lot more when I play in color.

All in all I fucking love this game, it's an instant classic for me and I love being able to play a black and white Kurosawa film.

No word yet on the system requirements, though I'm hoping it'll follow other Steam Deck Verified ports of games like Spider-Man: Remastered that have been handled to date by this same company (Nixxes Software).

This is such good news because it means Ghost 2 won't be far behind. RDR3 and Ghost 2 are what I need in my life.

It's gonna be methadone but I've seen enough to think it's going to be a more accessible Nioh. I think the gameplay is going to be a blast but I haven't seen Team Ninja do anything story driven that was as good as it could be. I think it will be fun as hell but it's not gonna be like Ghost at all.

Fantastic game but it does have some small flaws. Like the fact there's no option to kill all of those scummy Iki Islanders.
