MLB Pseudo-Season 2020: Roger, Dodgers

So a player can get COVID but they don't have to inform his teammates or other people on staff who interacts with him? That doesn't sound right. I do understand people should have privacy when it comes to health issues but I think something like this would be a exception.

MLB doesn't have to tell the world at large, but I'm sure anyone or everyone on the team would be in the loop. At least anyone who might have been around any of those four.

Your probably right but I wonder about players and coaches on other teams and I wonder if they would tell it to lower level workers like the people who do the laundry and stuff like that.

It could depend on the team. Some organizations are more honest than others.

I just heard a SiriusXM sports update talking about Mike Trout reconsidering if he wants to play this year saying he doesn't want to leave his family, and he has a baby on the way. I say it is much too risky to even think about playing this year, let alone the crap both the league and the players pulled in getting to this point. If Trout doesn't play, they might as well shut the whole thing down. You can't have your biggest star of the game (And someone Manfred criticized for not being that public persona) skip out and still call it a legitimate season.

All-Star Game officially cancelled.

Major League Baseball announced Friday that it has officially canceled the 2020 All-Star Game.

The league also announced the Los Angeles Dodgers and Dodger Stadium will host the 2022 All-Star Game. The 2021 All-Star Game will remain at Truist Park in Atlanta.

One small step for baseball.....one small step for mankind.

The Braves can just switch to the Atlanta Brave, chuck the tomahawk symbol and keep the same color schemes.

31 MLB players positive for coronavirus after first round of tests

Does someone have to fucking die before they just cancel this shit?
I bet that won't be enough.

"People need their entertainment!"

The Cleveland Major League Baseball club is considering changing their name

Typically though, Atlanta is not.

Cleveland has a lot of old names that would be pretty good, I want to see the Spiders back out there.
The Spiders would be a great name to return to!

Disappointed in the Braves though. :(

Nope. That's far too weak of a change. The changes need to be wholesale with no reminders of what the name and logo were.

I don't think it has to go that far. The word Brave is a pretty good word and it allows them to keep tradition somewhat. It sort of makes me thank about what Syracuse did years ago when they went from the Orangemen to the Orange.

I don't think every Native American related name needs to be changed. I think it would be better for teams like the Indians and Braves (and others) to work with Native American groups to come up with more respectful imagery to accompany the names.

"Braves" (translated) was/is used by native Americans. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_brave

"Indian" is a misused word based on explorers looking for India and finding America, but apparently most native Americans don't have a problem with the word. https://americanindian.si.edu/nk360/didyouknow#topq2

The issues were with the logos for Atlanta and Cleveland baseball teams. Chief Wahoo is gone from Cleveland and Atlanta got rid of the brave logo they were using 35 years ago, though they still use a tomahawk in places.
