Spoilers The Flash - Season 6

The problem with Finn is the same problem that drags the whole ST down: lack of forethought. JJ is habitually guilty of coming up with good elevator pitches, but not taking the time to develop them into coherent concepts. Most of TFA's half-baked ideas have "well that's the next movie's problem" written all over them. RJ to his credit actually tried to do something interesting and meaningful (though I could still have done without the pointless Casino Planet escapade.)

As a result, they just threw a Stormtrooper deserter in there because it's a cool visual and never been done before, but never bothered to develop a real backstory for Finn or chart an arc for him beyond the first movie. The bit about him having done sanitation duty on SKB was clearly just thrown in as a joke line. I have no clue if they'd always intended for him to be black or if that's just how the casting process shook out (I've honestly never looked into the BTS on this one much) so I can't speak intelligently about what element came first.

I will say though that as someone that grew up around the military, the idea that a soldier was an "ex-janitor" is a bit of a misnomer. Generally speaking, army camps don't have a janitorial staff because that's exactly the kind of thing you make the lower ranks do on a duty roster. Especially in the barracks.
Yeah, and Poe was written to die in the crash after escaping with Finn, but they liked Oscar so much they wrote him back in half way through the movie.

Which is why I give Poe some slack for having an incoherent arc. And that's all fine. They should be open the possibility of new and better ideas as things go along. Finn however was there from the get-go and meant to be the co-star. That makes it a lot less forgivable.

Incidentally they did the opposite to Kenobi in ANH. Lucas didn't decide to kill him until after they were done with the location shooting and moved back to the UK. Not because he didn't like Alec, but because he realised that after the Death Star he didn't have an awful lot to do besides stand around the rebel control room with Leia looking concerned. Which is why he had to invent Yoda for the next movie.

....aaaand we're way off topic here. SO yeah...The Flash...I don't think I actually made it to the end of the season, which probably says somehting about my level of interest for it, or the fact that one of them got sacked for being a massive nob-end.
I'll probably get back to it at some point, once I figure out where the hell I left off...and possibly after I actually watch this season on LoT...

Incidentally, any word on the Canaries show?

And given the virus is only just starting up in the U.S., even though the series films in Vancouver--I understand that contractually they are still obligated to follow California labor law so who knows when we will get new episodes.

Totally random, but started watching Black Sails the other day. Took a few minutes to make the connection in my brain, but weird seeing Nora is a, um, slightly different role. And given that her role in Black Sails was a couple years before her first appearance in the Arrowverse, a little funny that she got cast as the Allens' kid. Wonder how that discussion went: "who should we get to play Barry's kid? Know who was good? That prostitute from that pirate show..." :)

She certainly has a nice pair doesn’t she?

I mean, don’t wanna go down that road, but definitely looking at the more young/innocent Nora a bit differently, especially when the role of Ms. Allen was after Black Sails. Just a strange juxtaposition in my head now

She is. Actually liking her in Black Sails, much more interesting character thus far. Accent suits her better as well

Black Sails was a good show. Shame we never got the “Treasure Island” sequel.

Too bad there won't be familiar actors/production, but I'll just have to watch one of the other Treasure Island movies to get the conclusion I guess, and squint a little to pretend it's the same. Only character (from what I remember) that carries over anyway is Silver, as well as Billy for a moment, so unless the proposed remake was going to have a lot of flashbacks or be set closer to the series, wasn't going to be a lot of familiar faces anyway.

Or maybe I'll watch the Muppet version :)
