Now that's something you don't see every day Were you inspired by any of the preliminary Enterprise-E sketches (by Mark Moore, Bill George, and John Knoll) as seen in the TNG Sketch Book: The Movies? There's one doodle/sketch in particular (lower left of page 85 if you have the book) that I'm thinking of (a quick search online didn't bring it up, so if I get a chance, I'll snap it and post it here).
Thanks! I do not have the book. Only Ent-E concept art I've ever seen is Eaves work. On this ship, I was thinking of Syd Mead and a Klingon D18 (I think). You know that Gull winged ship. Please scan whatever you've got...I'd love to see it
OK, here it is - middle left. This particular sketch has always intrigued me - I think it's the little saucer at the bottom that does it - which is why seeing your unique, kind-of-Klingon Zitón made me think of it I wasn't aware of the D-18, but I've just looked it up on Memory Beta, and can see what you mean.
In all honesty, I like some of these concepts more than what we got from Eaves. But that's more my issue with his "uniformity" that seems to permeate through almost all of his designs, regardless of ear the design is supposed to be in. Especially that design hugging the right of the picture... I really like it! Atolm, great design yet again. It's pretty cute, and looks like an appropriate design to test new experiments!
Wow! Thanks for doing that for me! A lot of interesting shapes. Nice to see Dual and Tri-saucered vessels in there. And vertical ones. Very cool stuff. Thank you again Thanks Thanks! I too, agree with what you said bro.
Fascinating stuff! I have never seen those sketches or that book. Can you recommend it? I particularly like the nacelles on the two-saucer sketch you highlighted above. And the idea of what looks like a tilted, vertical saucer in the sketch in the lower right. Inspiring.
I've got an old-ass ship that is similar to the 4th one down (or up) on the right side: I did these back in 1988-1989 it then evolved into this (a collaboration with my good mate Tus):
^^ You've got some ships to finish! Hmm dual saucers.. I hope not two bridges as well.. there'd be no end to the discussion where to go first..
- You're more than welcome, Atolm. I love seeing your starship (and animal) art, so this is the least I could do as thanks - I haven't properly looked at it for a few years, but I love this sort of behind-the-scenes/making-of book. It has some fantastic concept sketches from various artists covering all sorts of Trek things - Ricardo Delgardo's Borg, storyboards, Alex Jaeger's First Contact fleet concepts, set photos, Deborah Everton's (and Gina Flanagan's) costune designs - loads of great stuff. So, yes, I would recommend it - That's a cool ship. And I'm glad those sketches didn't derail your thread (could've been a contender for Michael's new Official Fan Art Lounge thread ).
